The absolute cheapest Intake Manifold I could find online, want some thoughts on it if anyone has tried or even seen it before.

Hello, I am posting because I wanted to ask for genuine feedback regarding this intake manifold I bought on eBay it is literally the cheapest intake manifold for a Gen 2 b58. It’s cast and says a few have sold, I am wondering if anyone has ever bought this here.

I mostly bought it out of curiosity but compared to other cast ones it doesn’t seem half bad, but since I am getting ready for a new build I am iffy about it and don’t know the consequences if it were to fail outside of spending more money.

I have been looking at other ones from companies like Wagner and CSF, but I am just trying to see if that price gain justifies a build going for low 700whp to mid 700whp from a pure 800 and port injection.

I am still in my return window and can return it, but wanted to get some inputs before I do, or if I should just run it and hope for the best.

If everyone just thinks it’s utter trash I will just return it and buy a Wagner one most likely, I was just interested in the Alibaba route since most are made in China and some of their quality is pretty good when you find the right suppliers.

Have at it and let me know what I should and shouldn’t look out for, and what I should do before my return period ends. Thank you!

Well the gold standard would be to blank one of the coolant holes, inlet or outlet with a pressure gauge in the blank and attach a fitting with an air supply to the other fitting and pump it up to 25psi or so. The supply fitting could be something as simple as a connection with a car tyre valve assembly and pumped up with shop air or even a pushbike pump. Pump it up to 25psi or thereabouts, let the pressure stabilise for 30 minutes and take a reading and make sure it holds pressure for a few hours. You can also do the same thing and use some water with some soap dissolved in it and squirt it all around the core and see if any bubbles form to identify leaks. It won't tell you if it's leaking on the air side of course but thats not quite as important but you can use the same technique with the air side as well.

I still don't get why people still cheap out on this mod. CSF is just bullshit marketing
2 radiator manufactures that I would spend money on for intake manifolds. Wagner and PWR.
So, either go with a dual pass Wagner manifold or go with the Evolution Of Speed manifold with a single pass PWR radiator.

I do know EOS tends to be the highest rated but at 5k I feel I hit a point of diminishing returns since I am not seeking 1000hp+. Wagner after reading around in the forum, people tend they are a let down performance wise, considering price. So I am at a crossroads regarding it.

Interesting, didn’t know I could do this. Would it be better to have someone like a shop do this, or just undergoing it myself?

You're seeking best IAT's regardless of power goal. You're won't get it anywhere else. Only options left are a water/meth kit or interchiller.

It's a cheaper option. Still a dual pass design but is a good radiator OEM ..........where?
I've read the complete opposite of what you're saying with data showing a good price to performance heat dissipation.

Just do it yourself would be my way but a decent radiator repair shop would have no trouble doing it as long as they were't just interested in the bread and butter work and could be trusted.

For christ sake dude........ really? Are you still considering buying this manifold?

700hp target and you want cylinder 6 to have this type of airflow on this dogshit intake plenum

This is the type of airflow you want. Mike speed knows what he's doing.

Valid points, I have looked at EOS just wondering if the price to performance is worth it, because at some point you do hit a point of diminishing returns. I feel the Wagner could probably take me 90% there for about 60% of the cost. That’s why I am asking around before I get my intake.

Forget about diminishing returns. That's always the case with IAT's and timing corrections. You want to push 700 on stock components. Focus on reducing cylinder temps so you don't blow a ringland.

Just grab a Wagner if you really can't afford to pay from something this significantly important for the car. Its the same dime a dozen dual pass manifolds out there.

Or buy the EOS. Every single dickhead out there in the market has tried to copy mike's single pass design.
RK, CSF, even that bible thumping Remnant dude.

Mine sheds 260 degrees F on my logs at wide open throttle. from 360 degrees charge temps.

I like the way Cloud Yeller gives you proper advice on testing the manifold......................... meanwhile the real advice should've been, "Don't buy that manifold m8."

Stop acting like Supras are $150k cars lol. It’s $60k… basically an entry level sports car these days which means owners with low budgets. And spending almost 10% of car’s value on one intake manifold is dumb as shit unless you are actually pushing the envelope.

Yeah....................thanks, Captain Obvious. Thanks for breaking down the financial aspect of this. I never would've figured out that modifying sports cars is a bad investment.

Here's the simpler version. if you can't afford it, stay stock. You've gotta pay to play.

But this is coming from someone who's still on a JB4. So all in all............. like razorlab said the forums is just left with trash lol.
