I'm looking into m-link as well. I ultimately want to go from BM3 CustomRom (FEMTO unlock) to MHD+. Has anyone gone from BM3 to re-locking their DME with the stock CVN/CID numbers, and moving on to MHD+? I would like the flexibility to relock/unlock at home for smog purposes.
I believe @razorlab has, and has posts about it.

I have switched from BM3 to MHD but I never looked at the CVN. I didn't really care at the time. I also don't live in California anymore so overall doesn't really matter to me personally. I just try to help others when I can.

i mean other than flashing back to stock, you can take back to a dealer and they will happily re-lock the ecu (lol). In all seriousness, I don't think you need to lock the DME to switch to MHD? Just flash the ecu back to stock then flash MHD on?

You are correct. Just use the flash back to stock BM3 option (not lock) and then flash MHD.

This seems like the first at home unlock? I haven't seen any discussion about this yet, but if I'm understanding correctly seems like it should be a big deal. Anyone familiar with M-Link and/or Mission Tuning?

I ordered mine 8 days ago. Sounds like it might ship in a few days. I'll let you know how it goes. I have a 2024 manual.

I already did the tune on my 24 manual. Went well, you'll be happy with the results!

Are you catless? I've seen reports of overboost on manuals leading to limp mode for catless downpipes as well as the OTS 93 tune from MHD. Would be interested to hear if you have that issue as well

Mine is on order as well 🤞
I will help you out Immensly, in case you don’t get the email, like me, that they are supposed to send you for installation.

First, use a laptop or desktop to view the website for the instructions. If you don’t, you won’t see 90% of what you need to see to follow their directions. They never told me this, used my iPhone and was pissed when it showed absolutely nothing.

The links for M-Link and M-Flasher are accessible here: https://missiontuning.com/guides

I recommend viewing them from a desktop/laptop, or view it as a desktop site from your phone or tablet: https://missiontuning.com/guides

In order to validate your license, you need to use a phone, because at the same time, you need to use your phones WiFi connection to connect to the M-Link at the same time.

I also took a picture of the connections that go into the DME (ECU), just so I didn’t pull a stupid and try and push a connector into the wrong one and bend the pins, destroying your DME.

I hope this helps and gives you less frustration then I had at first. Once I was able to see everything, it went very smoothly. I backed up my DME and then saved it to 6 places for safety, online and on hard drives. Enjoy!

Just adding another successful data point for M-Link.

My car is a 2025 Toyota GR Supra RZ (DB06, B58 Gen 2). I used M-Link to make a full DME backup first, then performed the unlock at home.

The actual unlock process was very quick and straightforward. After the unlock, I installed bootmod3 and I’m currently running Stage 1 without any issues.

A couple of practical things I learned during the process may help others.

First, do not assume the DME connector locking lever will automatically move all the way into the locked position just by pushing the connector into the DME.

On my car, a connector could look like it was installed, but it was still possible to pull it back out unless I manually raised the locking lever with my finger until it fully engaged.

So when reconnecting the DME, I would strongly recommend checking each connector carefully and manually moving the locking lever all the way to the fully locked position.

The other thing that caught me out was connector #5. Its orientation is opposite to the others, so that was another point where I had to stop and double-check what I was doing.

Those two things were probably the biggest practical stumbling blocks for me. The actual M-Link unlock itself was much easier than I expected.

I also made a Full DME Backup before unlocking and saved copies in multiple locations.

Overall, M-Link worked very well for me, and I’m happy to have the ability to perform the unlock myself if the DME is ever updated or re-locked.
