Are you trying to set yourself up to be able to lock and unlock your DME at your pleasure for smog purposes?

I had previously asked Femto about their new permanent unlock and they had told me that even if locked, any unlocking software would be able to unlock it again. So hopefully that meant Mission Tuning too.

If you find out, keep us updated 🤞
I asked Mission if it could relock the DME back to stock and they didn’t comment.

Supposedly MHD can flash back to stock without locking the DME. When the time comes and it doesn’t work I may bite the bullet and get the Mission.

I just ordered the M-Link bundle (Super Unlock & tune) for my 2022 A/T. 🤞
Let us know how it works. I have a 2022 also, live in Komiefornia, so therefore need a way to flash back to stock, lock the ECU, smog it, then unlock it again and flash the previous tune. I’m not keen to have to go somewhere or pay someone for the rest of the life of the car to keep locking and unlocking, so this is a huge potential solution for me, and others like me.

This is exactly what I’m trying to do and make sure of before I commit to anything. Komiefornia is awesome…

California, where you can change your gender but not your intake or you tires (soon).

I have heard a few people that got state reff'd on MHD flashed back to stock and passed the refferee. I don't know if that's because CID and CVN checked out or if California has the proper CID and CVN on file.

Do you happen to know if they used the MHD flash back to stock feature, or they go it relocked?

Source? All the tools unlock the same now. Full backend unlock just like Femto and Autotuner.
I was talking to M-Link about it and they weren’t 100% sure it would work. They said if it didn’t that I could get ECUTEK to force flash it and that doesn’t sound like something I want to chance. If someone else has success with it, good on them for being the test subject.

Yeah they used flash back to stock I believe. This was with the ECU still unlocked so they flashed back to an OTS after.

@ColonelAdama some information for you and your clients. I will let some of the dust settle and get 1st hand knowledge, but looks like this works. Let me know if your clients have the same experience.

These are part of the reason I sold my Evo and Supra. CA was getting good at detecting changes to ECUs and I couldn't confirm that I could put things back to OEM enough to pass the CID/CVN checks. I seem to remember people editing files and/or having ROMs I didn't have access to, so I gave up. Such a shame, as the Evo passed everything else just fine, including visual (with the OEM cat installed).

If this is ever confirmed to work for CA residents, it may get me off the fence on buying another MkV. Fingers crossed for everyone.

For what it's worth, just smogged my Evo and flashed back to stock and passed fine (with a little visual help). I was able to check with an OBD2 reader and it did have the OEM CID and CVN. Then I flashed my tune back for the next 2 years.

Biggest reason for this is with Evos you pull the ACTUAL file off the DME with the flashing tool. So you can grab a copy of the actual OEM file. MHD, BM3, etc do not read from the DME. They match a server side generic BIN file with your current BIN ID and SWF version.

There are tools that can read the actual BIN off the DME though. Autotuner, etc. Just gotta pay to play.

I still have a hard drive with thousands of Evo customers original DME files.

The first guy that tuned my car never saved mine. I coulda choked him. Good to know the Supra community possibly has a fix.
