This is it! Squeeze the clay down so it only contacts the button and not the bezel around it, yank hard! This method took me less than a minute to replace my start / stop button....

It worked for me with the supplied putty...try this approach below with it....the supplied stuff didn't work, going to try clay bar...wish me luck
I had success after I rolled the supplied putty into a ball and placed on small smooth bottle cap I had...I then pushed that onto the button and pulled back quickly...this provided much more surface tension and the button came right off!
The crazy thing is...I tried the 3M tape as well. It did much better than the putty but still didn't come out. Think I should stick some 3M tape on the button and let it stick for a half hour then try it again? Clay bar is my next step after that.i used claybar on mine. heat it up a little so its more workable. maybe even the 3M double sided tape stuck to something and pull it straight out. or last resort to a hot glue gun stick, but it might be a pain to clean the button after.
heating up the 3M also helps it stick much better. try to stick it to a bottle cap and use the bottle as leverage? haha idk just thinking of something for more leverage. The crazy thing is...I tried the 3M tape as well. I'll keep at it with the 3M. Thanks man!heating up the 3M also helps it stick much better. try to stick it to a bottle cap and use the bottle as leverage? haha idk just thinking of something for more leverage.

Picking up claybar a little later and will make my last attempt today. If it doesn't work, i'll try again tomorrow. This button is going to come out!Try using clay from a clay bar. Make it the same size as the button and about 1 inch long. (Like a tootsie roll shape)
Warm it in your hand until it's sticky. Put it on the button and then run your ac on full while holding it for 2 minutes.
In one motion... Pull straight out .... So fast u almost hurt your arm.
If u fail.... Do it again.
