I was told the 4cyl was tested with a higher output than 240hp (probably was), but knowing what I know now I would say it's best to just disregard that motor overall as it's just a testing platform not destined for production.
It kinda felt good that there was a chance for a manual even for a 4 cyl. Btw do you know if it is maybe for europe?

They do have a B48 that makes 300hp. But for me it is also about image. This is Toyota's flagship sports car. IMO it should have no less than 6 cyl to be a successor to the 2000GT/Supra line.
I actually agree for the car image , it is best in my opinion too to be produced only with 6 cylinder engines.

I think 340HP for the low spec model is ok. Could have been worse, and I think for people with a smaller budget the low spec Supra should be affordable too.

What does it matter if the high power car comes a year later, Toyota left us waiting for decades now

well, I guess we better hope the GRMN car gets in as much development/R&D as possible

Soooooo, I'm breaking the news to Supra Forums only. This news will spread, but it starts here first, not Supra MkV, You Tube, no where else. Here. I'm only telling yall because of what Akio said in the meetings, so I think it's time now. This car (340hp talked about up above) will be called a Celica, while the Gazoo Racing tuned Celica will then be called the Supra. As Akio said, this is the Supra, but not quite what you think. Think ala Mk. II Celica, and then Celica Supra. However, it will just be a GR Supra, and not a GR Celica-Supra. Again, this "is" the Supra, but not the stand alone Supra everyone was thinking.

That is the reason there will not be a M version of the Z4, and it's because of the GR tuned Supra, as this is what will differentiate the GR Supra and the Z4.

Personally, I like the name of Celica Supra, as it means to be surpass the heavens, but again I stress it will be a GR Supra.

doesn't make sense to me, so we get 2 different model names and 2 different brand names...lol..sounds quite silly especially after killing off scion. i have a hard time believing GR will become a separate brand especially here in the states but i guess here comes another era of explaining your car is actually a toyota.

This, are they really going to make a new showroom just for a "GR Supra"? :hmm:

Lol, I remember mentioning this as a possibility scenario forever ago on here, so if true that's pretty funny. I meant between the 4cyl and 6cyl car though, so this is pretty odd in comparison and by history.

That said, unlikely GR is making it to the States where we have strong equity in TRD.

If they introduce the car as celica and only the top model as the supra , this changes i believe some things . First of all the name is given to distinguish the products to make the consumer buy the product or understand what it is , so the name here is not random at all if this rumour is true. Second , because of the naming , the price of the base car should not go to 55k-60k territory and start from around 40k and reach maybe 55k top with all extras and stuff.Now for the GR supra , performance should be as high as possible with a reasonable price tag , i believe 60k-65k would be good? What do you guys think .

I don't understand this part::

What is he trying to say here?

Regardless, I don't really care what they call it. Let's see the damn thing.
