somewhere around here didn't I see that the coolant tank part number for the Supra is a different number? Maybe this has been looked at and tweaked by Toyota for this specific reason?

hopefully someone with more knowledge or insider info can chime in
Nice wheels, how do you like that GT4?

Parts and bleeding the huge complex system are 2 different things. 2jzs will overheat if they aren't bled properly as well.

While this truly the factory's fault in this situation, checking coolant (and every other fluid) levels every so often is also part of car ownership (and every technicians responsibility as well IMO). After it is fully bled, it should be a non-issue. But then again BMW has never been known for their robust cooling systems.

Id keep a gallon of Toyota Red Bmw Blue coolant in the garage (and various other fluids, but maybe thats just me)

As a Toyota guy for 25 years, driving any other make gives me the heebie jeebies anyway, thinking every noise or rattle means the car's going to grenade itself at any moment. a coolant issue at 6000 miles is beyond the pale, for me anyway.

I'm still thinking about buying it tho, it's fast as shit

No doubt it is concerning and ridiculous for a car to be shipped out like that. My guess is that bleeding a system with W2A intercoolers is new to the factory

I 100% agree with you. I'm just not sure BMW sees it like we do. I'll bet there is a BMW manager who has just sent an email to the engineering teams along the lines of : "Why am I reading about customers topping up cooling fluid? why can customers still top up ANY fluid levels?? how can customers even purchase suitable fluid in the first place??? AND why are customers still able to do any maintenance at all?!?!? I though we fixed this already!!!, stop this customer-self-service rubbish!"

It will be interesting to see how locked down this new Zupr4 is given the amount of BMW mechanicals. I suspect it wont be too bad given the Toyota badge, but obviously only time will tell.
I am confused on what youre saying. Where does bmw say/imply they don't want owners working on their cars?

As a BMW owner who works on his car and has taken it to several independent euro (not even bmw-specialist) mechanics, I'm also confused. Yes, sometimes you need bmw-licensed software to reset things but it's generally available. Sometimes the manual says you need bmw tool # blah blah but you can get away with generic tools a lot of the time.

Ya I had a friend with a Tstat stuck open warning on his newer 16' 3 series wagon 2.0L T. (mileage made him out of warranty). replaced it in my garage in less than 2 hours (haven't touched a BMW in 6 years). It was easy and part was like $80. He did run by BMW to reset it after though for free.

Its funny, my fiance is 100% a BMW hater. I still haven't understood why and she really has no real explanation besides they are always assholes or something of the sorts (so basically ignorance). So I have yet to tell her the Supra is basically BMW. Ill wait to buy it first, then point out every BMW part every time we drive together lol.

If Toyota Supra is ; and BMW Z4 is , then it doesn’t solve the equation “Toyota Supra = BMW Z4”.:nixon:

40i - 340hp Confirmed (hopefully for only Eu/Japan).

You want 400 hp? Pls buy our chips and void your warranty.

This slow teasing blue balling is enough, Toyota!
