2020 Toyota Supra Officially Announced, Debuts in January (Detroit Auto Show)

Will the "embargo" be broken before Detroit?

  • Yes, the press embargo will be broken before the Detroit Auto Show.

  • No, automotive journalists may be tempted... but it won't happen.

  • What's an "embargo"?

  • It's 2021, I know what happened.

I have a feeling that he is referring to the 4 banger version.
He said it was fast though

Wasn’t it Tads Son himself who said it won’t be a cheap car?
All we know until now: it’s not a cheap car but more affordable then we think. :D

Nope. It’s not Tada-san who said that; but Vincent Dewaersegger, senior manager of product communication at Toyota Europe, was confident pricing will be appealing. He said, "Pricing is not finalised and it's going to be market dependent. Of course it will be below a Porsche because Toyota is a mainstream brand, but the final price will depend on every market and the competitive set,"

"To be honest, it's not finalised. Although it's going to not be a cheap car, we want to make it affordable. Our target is not to make it so high that nobody buys it, that's not our intention. The sweet spot, we are now finding that sweet spot," he went on.

"There will be some difference in terms of specification depending on the market. We can standardise the active suspension, active differential. It is a market-by-market discussion. But in Europe there will be several specifications."

What if Hollis is fooling us again?
I guess there's only one way to find out.

I've been keeping my emotions in check. I don't get excited or nervous about such things after living through the Honda S2000 debacle. For you see I wanted one of those so badly I could taste it. I slavishly followed every step of development from concept sketch to the showroom floor. Then I went to test drive one. Turns out Honda wasn't really thinking about tall people. Left me all like...

Bob Carter, President of Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. said they are coming back to the Detroit Auto Show in a big way. They will be unveiling the all-new Supra at the Auto Show, as well as the Lexus RC F Track Edition, which they claim to be the fastest and most powerful car ever made by Lexus since the LFA.

So, another confirmation from one of the heads at Toyota.
