i made the switch to motul 5-30 and i haven't seen any appreciable difference in fuel economy but i was burning the factory oil pretty quickly hoping to get better life out of the motul hopefully will come out looking better at my next oil change.

titan motorsports recommended me with their basic guide line of "warm climate only 5-40 is fine"
"moderate climate with cold starts 5-30"
Running LIQUI-moly 5-30 and she’s running great. But if living in a mega schweaty hotter than warm climate, you’d go with 5-40? If we ever hit freezing temps, it lasts for about one hour (every 10 years) and makes a lot of news lol

that was there rule of thumb they passed on to me when i asked about switching oil because i would change my oil after 7000km of daily driving (albeit with a much heavier than normal foot on the gas) and it would come out BLACK and would start to burn oil.

they said 5-40 isn't good for places with a variable climate and i drive my car through 3 of the for season so i stayed with their recommendation of 5-30! i think you'll be okay running 5-40 in florida

thanks, but I’m gonna stick with Amsoil 5w/30
LS European , the Amsoil 5w40 comes in FS and MS variants, which has to much sulfur
Content, and the recommendation is a low sulfur for the B58 motor.

Someone was pushing real hard on this oil...and I bought into it. It was the main oil I found that actually lists all the required items oil wise. I was on Liqi-Moly, but it didn't have some of the reqs for the oil (I've heard it's fine, but thought I'd try the stuff above just cause). No issues with the oil so far and no oil consumption so far (With Liqi-moly I had it twice, but not sayin it's the oil).

i dont really care what the toyota dealer say
thats a bmw engine
i check at a very big bmw dealer in my country, they use 5W40 on B58 engine.
i think they know better then toyota.
All I know is that the engine runs better on the oil I am using, quieter and it just feels a little different. 5-40 (and the oil is way too expensive but what the hell the car is worth it.. lol )
