If and when this new Z is released it might not be sold in the EU.

Nissan Motor Co Ltd will pull back from Europe and elsewhere to focus on the United States, China and Japan under a plan that represents a new strategic direction for the embattled carmaker, people with direct knowledge of the plan told Reuters.

Like it. Like the twin turbo V6 but not digging this part:

“Using the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 engine of the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport, the output will be 298kW of power, or 400hp, hence the 400Z nameplate. Torque could be increased beyond 475Nm and it will likely not offer a manual transmission.”

475 Newton-Meters is roughly 350 ft-lbs of torque. That is not a tall order for modern and current manual transmissions and clutches.

The 1990 300ZX TT had 300ft-lbs of torque stock.

This seems to be the same lame reasoning Toyota used to justify no manual for the A90 Supra.

The Porsche Cayman AND Ford Mustang both have an advantage here as competitors if Nissan does not factor a in a manual gearbox option their non-hybrid Z.

Though I like the concept art of this Z the Supra still looks better. These unofficial renderings look more ‘69 240Z than ‘90 300ZX though.

Gentlemen's agreement 2.0 or shall we say, Genitalia's agreement. lol The big Japanese manufactures seemed scared again to not step on each other's toes. They can clearly put a manual in there and if they offer it in a automatic, it'll be very unfortunate.

I really hope they keep a lot of Datsun 240Z styling especially that long hood, that pissed off Great White shark looking front end and those recessed headlights. Pay some homage to Yoshihiko Matsuo.

I would truly be surprised if it didn't have a 6mt. It is such an easy way to get the advantage over the Supra.

Absolutely! It would be smart for Nissan to do so. C&D hinted and referenced the 6 speed from the SEMA build. Fingers crossed.

The twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 that makes up to 400 horsepower in the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 seems like a shoo-in. A seven-speed automatic is the only transmission available in those Infinitis, but we're hopeful that a stick shift will be offered as well. Nissan already hinted that such a thing is possible when it bolted a six-speed manual to the twin-turbo engine for a modified 370Z SEMA concept in 2019

That sounds like an easy win for them, and would push Toyota to release a 6mt as well
