I mean $40k is a good price for a base model, but $10k for LSD, leather seats, one inch bigger screen, etc. seems extreme imo.

Sounds about right though.

I mean, adjusting for inflation, the 2009 370Z Base 6MT would cost just over $40k with the Touring 6MT at just over $46k. That's not including, again adjusted for inflation, the $2500 Nav Package and $4000 Sport Package.

Regardless of pricing hype, I'd never suspected any of the models in the 400Z lineup to be priced lower than $40k. And even that's to be taken with a grain of salt just like the C8's "under $60k" elusive price.

Considering I paid somewhere between 52-53k (before taxes) for my premium supra, the z is by far not a good deal like it was supposed to be. Of course, that is assuming the leaked prices are legit.

$5k difference between a Performance spec Z, or a 3.0 Premium Supra that's lighter, faster, better built, with better quality parts, and much better looks. Easy choice. And that's before any markups.

Some of those Z folks were really out there thinking that a weak Yen would translate to some kind of deal for the rest of the world, as though Nissan doesn't have offices outside of Japan, and as though they as a company don't like profit. Plus, nobody is going to set the price of a car, which will be on sale for years, based on a constantly fluctuating conversion rate.
