Android auto retrofit with just PnP device?

Hi all

I was doing some digging to see if there was such a thing as a device which can piggy back off apple carplay to essentially turn it into android auto...

I did come across such a device and wondered if anyone has tried it?

I've never seen or heard anything about that, but this is what I have and it works pretty well.

It looks like you need to have wired CarPlay in order for that to work so unfortunately that won't be a solution. There are a few threads about the mmi linked above

Pretty sure this car supports wired CarPlay via the USB - it can do both.

Thanks yeah I know about the mmi boxes just curious to see if there's an easier option. I've seen the same unit is on aliexpress too so food for thought. I'll enquire with them and see what they say, theoretical we should have wired carplay which this unit should piggy back off...

I suppose its a case of try n see

"Yes it will, as long as the car has touch screen with built in carplay."

I haven't got my car just yet but this looks like it is worth a punt. Seems legit and 30 day money back guarantee. So willing to try it and it costs less than 2 tanks of super unleaded anyway

Picking the car up on the 01st July so can let people know what it is like that evening as I have a 250 mile drive home from the dealer so want to set it up as soon as I get the keys.

Update: doesn't seem to work According to manual it should connect after plugging it into the USB and connecting your phone to the carplay box's bluetooth, but that didn't work.
