....said the guy who blames me for pointing out logical reasons for using the factory oil.
My guess is that you never participated in a debate club at school.
Yes there is gas savings logic behind it. But you only have to say it once.… That is the key ?

Just a thought, not directed at anyone, maybe clean up the thread a bit. Or, a lot, delete every post except the very first one. Sticky that thread. Make a copy of this one if people want to continue debating.

I didn't realize what a mess it was, I'm just as guilty as anyone else. It seems the thread has gone a different direction than i believe the author intended.
It’s not even my thread but totally agree. Can Bryan delete the other posts? If not, I’ll go & delete mine. Rather it remain The one and only oil thread you‘ll ever need for your Toyota Supra. Can you change the title too?

1. I wouldn't have to repeat if those who attacked had read what I said, previously.
2. If posts are being deleted, why not delete the page that lists diesel oils. How many GR Supras have diesel engines?
3. Since Toyota's GR oil is approved by Toyota, and is factory fill, it should be added.

I agree its a cop out to delete posts. Thats why i suggested keeping the thread alive and making a sticky out of the first one. Maybe make this thread an appendix to the main thread or something. Theres good info scattered about but lots of goofy shit and bias/opinions thrown in too. Not saying it doesnt add value to the thread but it takes away from the objective of the initial post imo.

Definitely not deleting any posts. I can’t see them anymore since I have him on ignore, but others need to see how much of a wanker he truly is.

So I am confused about the original post and MISTAKENLY read all 9 pages, hoping to find clarity, but did not.

Which of the BMW oils are we supposed to be using if we have a 2026? Longlife 17 FE+? If so, the only approved equivelents are these? Also, don't all the modern Supra 3.0's have the B58 engine in them?

What I find interesting about the chart posted in the original post is that for the 5w-30 the named approved oils included a VAST list of seemingly different weights, for example my brand and type of oil of choice is Mobil 1, to which if we were supposed to use LL01 (5w-30) I would use Mobil 1 Formula 0W-40. Its been a long time since I have been in school and synthetics were new then. Maybe one of you could give me an easy explanation of why a different weight would be suggested just because of its brand and formula?

Is this why my 2018 Camry rattles and clanks now at 110k miles, because I have used the recommended 0w-16 oil its whole life? lol

Depends on how and where you drive. LL01 5w-30, 5w-40 or 0w-40 will be fine for most not looking to maximize their gas mileage another 1 mpg. This B58 was designed for LL01 oil, listed on that more specific boyoilguy thread. Edyvw (has some of the better post imo). Bryan (Razor) has some great track related oil analysis using X-Cess and I use that now too, since I track as well.

Changed my oil this weekend. Used an oil from the approved list. I did not get attacked by the Boomer Blob.

Since it is going to be my weekender it will mostly be driven mixed hard and soft. Nothing like a track car, but I'm close to the mountains where I'll romp it. But the drive to and fro will be "soft". I have a lot of track experience from my youth. I had a sport bike back then that I tracked a lot. So I get that it won't be like that.

That’s perfect for any of those oils. Get a brand & buy from the company you like (Turner is a good example below - all approved for our car) with LL01 on the bottle. It really won’t make a difference as long as you’re changing it every 5k & keep an extra bottle around to top her off. Since it’s always “hotter” where I live & how I drive, I’d only choose one of the thicker ones below (if I was buying from Turner - all on Bryan’s list):
