Armaspeed Intake, breather hose broke

How important is the breather hose? Can I just leave it unconnected cuz the fitment is very tight when trying to connect it to the intake hose. I broke the first one's clips while removing it from the old intake and now for Armaspeed Intake it just doesn't want to attach on
