When I developed the manifold it was extremely flaky. What I did was get a very long flexible but semi stiff rod and wrapped it in sand paper. Cleaned the inside of the pipes very well and tested them for leaks. Had no leaks and was happy with the results. I also used a cheap Chinese turbo at first just in case anything went wrong. It’s proven reliable so I upgraded to a boost labs 6466 turbo 0.86 AR. Spools just above 2k rpm I love it!
Good to hear! I just picked up a spool top mount kit and was thinking of going with a 6466 as well

I would 100% recommend it no need to go larger whatsoever unless you want 700+ whp with fueling and a built trans. I don’t have any e85 near me but my tuner said with it and no fueling upgrades on a 6466 I would be making low 600 range maybe more if lucky. Right now on pump gas I’m estimating mid to low 500s

I am built trans port injection with lpfp so I’m shooting for mid 700s to 800 lol

6466 with a 0.92 or bigger housing should be able to push those numbers pretty good. A 6766 would 100% but low end it kinda sucks for street use.

Pulsar also has a 68/62 similiar to the g35-1050 I’ve considered

Honestly don’t get pulsar I’ve had a few turbos from them they are trash. Get a real g35-1050 or a boostlabs one. I have a boostlab turbo now and actually met the owner and took a look around their shop great guys. I would get the one with water cooling option and you can just use the turbo without the water cooling. I personally removed my whole water cooling system it wasn’t helping with performance and only helped cool the turbo after a pull when the car was off.

I’ve heard alot of good about them. But I’ll look into that boostlab one. Is it branded by them ?

Boostlab turbos are made in their own shop. Pulsar works if you’re on a tight budget but if you can afford anything else 100% don’t get pulsar.

Seems like precision has been having some issues as well

Yeah I personally liked precision but I’ve experienced issues with them before. I would 100% go with a Garett turbo or a company that makes turbos based on garetts design (like boost labs).

How is the spool kit, have you installed it yet?

im trying to find out if there would be room to run a turbo smart straight gate and factory EWG controller adapter instead of a standard wastegate with their manifold.
I like that it’s small light and billet compared to giant tubular dual WG top mounts. But I imagine the sound and flow isnt as good since the flange is so close to the front on a log style manifold.
I thought I read or saw a BMW install video on the spool kit had a few fitment issues but I could be mistaken. I recall them complaining about the wastegate dump being too long, but IMO who cares that’s a very easy fix.

Jesus, that lag and backpressure must be horrendous. Why not just fab a bottom mount manifold with a turbo that wont have interference issues?

wonder if there any update... if you want to get to 600whp and with headroom to 800whp, I am curious why you didnt just get a pure800 or an equivalent hybrid turbo? I think you will easily get to that power with E85
