Hi All. I added 7L of oil, thinking that I was adding 7 quarts - manual calls for 6.5L. Should I be concerned? I drove the car for about 60 miles after the oil change. I checked the oil level after the drive, and the car said the level was at MAX.

Thank you all in advance for your help/advice.

The oil capacity is 6.9 quarts, which is equivalent to 6.5 liters. Should be fine.

Edit: misread your post. You filled with 7 liters. A bit of an overfill, if you want the peace of mind you might get the car back up and just drain half a liter. The iDrive oil sensor system can be a bit unreliable

Not sure how you would drain only a little oil unless you have a valve. And as far as I know an extractor won't work due to no dipstick. Unfortunately the only fix I can think of is to drain the entire vehicle and refill it. I mean, I guess you could use the same oil if you want but I would just put all new oil in. It was a mistake and it's frustrating but just accept it and make it right.

Also, I would only fill 6.5 quarts because never does absolutely all of the oil drain out. You can always add a little more if you need to.

As long as your drain pan is clean enough to eat from, just drain it all and measure 6.5 quarts to put right back in. No harm no foul.

Just drain what you need out and put the plug back in. You will get oil on yourself, but that would be the price to pay for overfilling.

Just loosen the plug until the oil starts to drip or run out in narrow stream. The oil starts to run out slowly before the plug is removed completely. May take a few minutes but once you've collected however much you want removed just retighten.

Ah, ok, that makes sense. Maybe it’s the type of plug I now have but I get no drips until it’s fully out.

https://www.jdpower.com/cars/shoppi...h oil is,cannot properly lubricate the engine.

When too much oil is added, the level in the oil pan becomes too high. That allows a fast-moving lobed rod called the crankshaft to come into contact with the oil and essentially aerate it. The result is a foamy, frothy substance that cannot properly lubricate the engine. Think of this as your engine’s way of turning cream into whipped cream. No one wants whipped cream lubricating their engine.

Just drain it...
I got this with the hose. Direct it to a measure cup if you have to or drain a bit, let Supra measure, repeat...

Its never a good idea to overfill your engine oil. Drain it into a clean container and refill properly.

If your car is on ramps so the front is nose high then add 6.5 Quarts. If your car is on a lift and level when drained then add 6.5 Liters.

There is a spot behind the drain plug that will hold oil if car isn’t level.
