So I'm going to be moving away from the stock tires soon and I'm looking to bump up to 265/35/19's and 285/35/19's and get a tire that has more grip. Currently on my custom E50 tune, traction control hates me in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd anywhere below 4k RPM's, with VSC off 1 click, the car steps out sideways a bit in 3rd down low. Basically, I'm looking to get opinions from anyone willing to give one, on what a stickier street tire is that can also get decent mileage. I've read around the internet about people getting anywhere between 8,000-10,000 miles out of a set of R888R's on their dailies/weekend warrior vehicles. Anyone have opinions or results to share?

The Supra isn't my daily, it's a pleasure vehicle that I mostly drive certain afternoons and on the weekend. I will only average close to 5k miles a year on the tires I get next. Currently I'm looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s's, R888R's, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's.
I'm also looking at tires currently thinking of going with the R888R's or the Sport 4s's. Wondering how the R888R's do in rain since mine is my daily driver.

Not great. I got stuck with my car in the rain once with R888Rs, It's manageable, but they are not good daily driver tires.

thanks for the response. Also do you know how big i can go without spacers or rubbing. I believe stock is 275 in the rear and 255 in front. Was thinking 285 or 295 in rear and 265 in front if possible? Any ideas and I dont want it sticking out looking stanced. Sorry not a fan to anyone that might get offended I like racing people so prefer to have the whole tire to the ground lol. Think stance is kinda a noob thing.

wait till you find out your wheels are going to naturally have camber when lower on wider tires ?

I have the Falken RT660s in 305/30R19 on the rear, and am pleasantly surprised by the road manners and wet traction level. I only put them on for the Real Street Drag events I was participating in, and they're miles ahead of the Super Sports in grip for that purpose, that's for sure. Not even close, really.

PS4's - Great daily, no rain issues, last 30k miles, 50-60 rolls slip some but manageable
R888R - Better grip, horrible in rain, loud road noise, last 10-15k miles
555r2 - Best grip, ok in rain, last 10-15k miles, they prefer more heat than others

10.7 on 285 555r2's, 30k total miles on car. Also have run F1 3R, RS4, and NT01 for track days.

Thank you appreciate the good information. I just ordered the 4's. Went one size wider so hopefully fitment looks ok ?. Worried the car will sit a lot higher or they will stick out.

Yea I decided on the 555RII's. I'm on stock wheels and don't plan to change. What size should I bump up to, 285/35/19 rear or what?

I would say go with a 295/35R19 at a minimum if you’re tuned or JB4.

285/35/19 fit the well best and hooked I a 1.55 60'. More people probably run the 305/35/19 and it seems to work fine and looks a little better. Availability of what's in stock is also a big thing right now.

Hmm, ok so you're saying 285 would fit the best and your car hooked a 1.55 60', but the 305s would look better? Would there be any negatives to 305?
