2 things I will never cheap out on
Brakes and tires
Agreed 100%, but I was looking for value, not just the cheapest. There's a good tire for every price point. Trying to see what's below the (IMO) premium PS4S segment.

I'm a big fan of the Indy 500s. I run them on my other car. I don't think these are available in a size that's friendly to my aftermarket wheels. Otherwise, yes, this is the kind of answer I'm looking for. What tires are a price tier below PS4S, etc., but aren't terrible?

I just put on a new set of wheels and tires.
new michelin PS4S is waaaay better than the stock PSS.
my rear doesn't fishtail anymore.
in the rain, they grip very, very well too.
imo, you should get the best tires that you can afford...your car and life's at stake.
I may just pony up and stick to grip driving this car. I just wanted to see if there were tires that wouldn't break the bank and I wouldn't mind burning through fairly regularly. Wide 19s are not as fun to purchase as skinnier 18s, for sure.

I’m personally keeping the OEM wheels since i had them refinished but in spring i plan on upgrading to Nitto 555rii 285 in the rear and 555G2 265 in the front. I’ve heard the hook really well
I worry about these in the wet.

Michelin PS4S or Continental ExtremeContact Sport in 275 front and 295 or 305 rear would be a good bet. Both are better than PSS imo.
Leaning towards this and getting in control of myself wanting to turn off VSC when I head out for errands.

yokohoma adven apex v601
Thanks for the suggestion - no 295/35s, but a good option for other widths at 19".

Falken FK510
Same, good suggestion, but no 295/35/19s from what I see.

I appreciate you all! Hopefully, this helps others, too, who looking for good tires that aren't looking to drop $460/tire.

I have a set of continental sport contact 5s on the GTi
The wheels were oem Golf R so they are performance summers
Very quiet and has a ton of grip
Check them out for a more budget friendly option over Michelin

If you have the money I recommend the Michelins as they had the best overall feel and traction from a road tire. Falken does have a 285/35 that I've run on my car with no fitment or TCS issues. When mounted they are nearly as wide as the 295 michelins with less road noise and good comfort. The FK510 had poor low speed tq traction but solid on the highway up to about 700hp. Indy 500's felt average and easy to burn rubber away. Not bad but nothing special. I haven't run Yokohama tires recently but they are usually good in the rain just like Contis. Maybe less dry grip. Best wet tire aside from the Michelins I've driven were Pirelli P Zero. The Nitto's and Toyo R888 were by far the worst even when slightly damp let alone drizzling or wet. To me they belong on the track or dry summer days only. My advice is to look for a good deal on Continentals or Michelins if you aren't driving daily in temps below 40 degrees.

Anyone driven with Falken Azenis RT660's regularly? How do they hook and are they any good in the rain?

I feel like a happy medium would be with r888r's in the rear and PS4S up front.. thoughts?

This isn't my daily so I can avoid the rain when possible but its Florida so the rain is unpredictable.

A friend just ordered PS4s for his Supra and I was shocked the price wasn’t that bad. I assumed they’d be more. If you haven’t gotten them yet, I’d still consider them for sure for an all around Florida tire.

If you want to learn car control ?. I’m currently driving on the OEM rubber. So easy dry or wet to get loose. They should burn up soon ?
