Hey guys, I feel that the stock brakes on my ‘24 don’t have the aggressive initial bite as I prefer. My comparison is the stock stuff on my ‘20 M4cs which I have owned for nearly four years.
So even though the car is still brand new, I thought I’d ask for recommendations for an easy pad swap that will have a bit more bite. Stock feels a bit soft.
My goal with my Supra is to get it to sort of class up to my M4cs with more brake bite, and equally as stiff and flat for suspension as it as well.
I will be swapping to MSS HAS and setting it really to a maximum of 15-20mm of lowering as I am fine with the chassis dynamics, and I have no desire to slam it. I just want it a bit sharper than it currently is in every way. From feedback on this forum, it seemed that the conclusion is that MSS is the best choice for someone wanting to do springs only and have zero to a light drop.
I also realize I am setting a high bar here having a ‘20 CS which was the final iteration of the F8x generation. Prior to that I had a Focus RS and my car was the east coast R&D car for Mountune USA, so it had literally everything upgraded. So it’s safe to say that after so many years both drivers in my home prefer a really aggressive street car with a strong preference over dynamics and feel over a cushy ride.
In the past I’ve used Hawk HP, EBC and I think Powerstop as well as upgrading rotors, but I just wanted feedback from others that is still relatively current and relevant to my car. I truly have no idea if what’s good for a ‘20 Supra is the same for a ‘24 - no idea of stuff was upgraded along this generation.
Brake dust is a reality and I’m okay with it. I like the idea of getting my feet wet with auto-x and getting my car on a track, but I need training and experience that I don’t have. It’s something I never truly considered in the past due to being much heavier of a person in my youth, but now I take care of myself physically which means I’ll be more physically capable as well.
I also am highly considering PSC2’s but will more likely move my 275’s to the front and go with 295 or 305 in the rear. I want to take a different approach on this car and improve chassis, tires and braking before adding any horsepower. It’s a great car so far, just much softer than my CS, and I’d like to close that gap.
