Necro: Man. Mine isn’t even giving me the oil levels. It gave me the low engine oil once and I added one quart.

Dealer said it’s fine, but I beg to differ.

"Engine oil level is OK" cant even measure the engine oil levels..... LOL
“OK” just means it falls between maximum and minimum. Not the actual amount in the engine.

Never tells the actual amount
It is supposed to have a literal gauge to the right of car when you run the scan showing the estimated amount. It may not be exact but it is the actual. The gauge only shows if the scan can be completed

I have the same issue with my 2020 Supra. I tried checking oil level today and it stops at 21%. I’m also not in date of warranty and am tuned im scared to take it to the dealer

Out of warranty is gonna cost you like $3.5-$4k.

You can always get yours retuned since it’s isn’t encrypted.

You should be fine but no one has let their pump go super long unreplaced that at least knows of this issue.

At worst the nylon will completely disintegrate and the oil pump fails taking the engine with it. At best, nothing happens.

I did replace mine and all is well. Personally I think that this part should be recalled.

Figured I would add to this thread.

Car is a 2020 with a 2019 build date.(Ecu didn't even require a bench unlock lol)Bought it in 2024 and everything was fine. Took a trip to see my family out east and came back. 2500 miles or so round trip. Vehicle never measured oil level on the trip. I assumed it was too hot or the car was unlevel. Never thought anything about it and was able to measure the oil level when I got back to Oklahoma.

-Car now has no dipstick on the right of the "measure oil screen" and stops around 18-20%. Checked the level in Bimmercode and it shows 74.7 mm. I added 1.5 qts of oil and this did not change the level showing in bimmercode.

-Idle oil pressure is like 39-42 psi. 2k RPM it was around 55-60psi(just brought up RPM on idle). Not sure if this is a sign of the oil pump failure or if the pressure is higher due to running a thicker oil and if MHD has any changes on their oil pressure tables.

- Car is bolt on and OTS tune and has about 3 weeks left on the powertrain warranty. No of the dealers that are local seem to be mod friendly.

-Since the sensor is separate of the pump and adding oil did not change the level in Bimmercode, do I have a chance this is the sensor only? If not I am assuming I will likely do the oil pump myself unless I can find a shop to do it reasonably priced.

My guess… you are now 1.5L overfilled hence why the sensor reading did not change. You also need an oil pump (unrelated to overfilling).

I would drain the oil and measure what comes out, then go from there.

Edit: make sure you’re pulling the correct sensor value; there are apparently multiple. There’s a few threads on the forum with details, here’s one: https://www.supramkv.com/threads/oil-level-analysis-with-ecutek.10943/page-4

Well, selecting the correct sensor would probably help in diagnosing the issue. FML
Pulled the correct sensor and it is about 3/4 of a quart overfilled. Guess the sensor is good. ?
Confirms the pump. I didn't want to spend the money on a pump if it was still good.

Thanks to this thread and this forum, I had Toyota replace my oil pump under warranty. Had the same symptom of the oil measurement procedure crapping out around 30%, told Toyota that was the issue and that the forums suggested this is a sign of the oil pump failing, took them two weeks to replace it, but it got done. Very glad I got an extended warranty. They're going to replace my water pump as well (which apparently is on "national backorder"), so I have to bring my car back in a month. Said the fact that there was some overflow coming out of my expansion tank that my water pump is failing (not sure I follow that logic, but not going to complain). I'm at 50,000mi, 4 years of ownership.
