It's the same shit, people just stopped talking about it because the buzz died down. There are no changes in the engine from the 2021 to the 2022.
Nah - mine doesn't burn...

I still burn. I scheduled to have major work done this week to mitigate it.

What kind of work?
Last time we spoke about it they said my piston rings will get swapped along with some other parts (some of which already have been done)

Neither does mine, and it's a 2021. It's a very very highly isolated issue. It was way over blown from the start.
By chance, do you know what production months were impacted with the issue?

That's a seriously great idea to start to track. I have no idea if anyone is collecting this information.
I was able to track down a TSB;

RECORD_ID: 2986515
Bulletin Number: T-TT-0642-21 Rev
Replacement Service Bulletin Number: N/A
NHTSA Item Number: 10190464
Date Posted: 03-23-2021
Component Name: 061500 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING: ENGINE: OIL/LUBRICATION
Make: TOYOTA
Model: SUPRA
Year: 2021
Date Added: 04-19-2021
Summary: TT: Customers may state the vehicle has oil consumption or certain warnings have illuminated stating low oil, ?Oil level at minimum, add one quart? as stated on MID.

I've also reached out to my local Service Department manager at my Toyota dealership in Atlanta where I bought the car. Hopefully he has some more info. I'll post anything I find on this thread.

I have an early build date 2021, March 2020. No oil issues, 9-10k miles total, 2 oil changes, didn't break it in gingerly, use whatever BMW puts in it.

How could you possibly know that? Small production changes can happen any time. For example, the piston ring supplier or design can change even in the middle of a model year. That's why we often see TSB and/or recalls that go by VIN rather than model year.

Audi had issues with oil consumption and it was fixed when they switched to a different oil wiping piston ring with a "waffle" design. If Toyota/BMW did the same, we wouldn't know unless they put out a TSB with the effective VIN ranges.

The poll here may not be scientific, but it sure looks like something is different for the 2022 cars since there seems to be almost nobody experiencing excessive oil consumption.

Early 2021, 3/20 build. First oil change at 2000 miles. Just shy of 4000 miles now, two drag strip visits, many south of the border trips. Zero consumption.
