Not sure if this is even the right place, or if it'd be better in a different area, I've also searched and didn't find anything. Does anyone know if there are any companies trying to get carb certification for their intake manifold? I'm slowly working my way down the rabbit hole of mods and at some point I'll need more fuel which logically points towards a manifold vs just an injector plate. However after looking up the install for an intake manifold it doesn't look like something I'd want to swap back and forth for smog on the car.

None that I have seen or heard of, it's not the easiest and cheapest thing to do. You'd probably be best off with a plate and switch back to your stock tune during SMOG testing. Keep your OEM engine cover on or make it look as OEM as possible.

Not sure of any but I doubt there would be any company that would go through it. It costs a lot of money and the process can take years.

I think your best bet would be to make it as stock look as possible: black, sand down any logos/welds.

Do any fit the stock engine cover?

I believe they all push the manifold to far out for the stock mounting points to work, but you could modify or cut the stock mounts off the cover for it to at least be on the engine. And hope the tech doesn't try and pull it off to inspect. (which they never did on my mustang nor my Focus ST that had meth injection nozzles under the cover of that car.)

Doteki kept insisting last year that everything they make will have CARB compliance... in two weeks.

Probably more of the ChatGPT marketing they post than anything that is actually going to happen.

You can easily see the side of the intake manifold with the cover on. Here is mine with a Wagner manifold. How lucky do you feel is what it comes down to. Or an inspector that is late for lunch. If the manifold is anything but black, RIP.

If I didn't know what I was looking at this would probably pass the stock looking test. Do you also have port injectors in there?

Yea hence my how lucky do you feel comment. Anything but a black manifold would stick out like a swore thumb.

I do not have PI.

Find a smog guy who doesnt care about visual stuff. They still exist, just a lot harder to find these days. Heck, I still know someone where you dont even have to take your car in. Just hand them over your registration and they hand you back over a passed smog test. Be prepared to pay a lot more though.

I used to live in CA. You can find someone to get you pass the visual inspection part of the smog test by paying a couple hundreds bucks. Not ideal but probably the easiest way
