Can't really speak to Cayman Ss and the like -- haven't spoken with anyone who tracks one.
A buddy of mine has a 981 GT4 and his main concerns are tires -- tires for the stock 20s are expensive (and due to sizing he's basically limited to Cup2s). Downsizing to 19s is possible, but there's very little clearance from the brakes (like 2-3mm based on some pictures he sent my friends and myself). Maintenance like spark plugs and air filters are also a bit more work considering the engine placement, if that matters to you.
Beside MSRP, running costs are a bit cheaper in the Supra since you can downsize to 18s and have more variety in tire choice.
At my home track (the Ridge), I've seen Supras with alignments and 200TW tires running 1:48s which is in the ballpark of GT4s on 200TWs. Ultimately, the GT4 does have the higher performance ceiling, but you get pretty damn close for half the cost and much less upkeep.
Having gotten a ride in my buddy's GT4 during track days and in an instructor's Supra (on 200TWs), I've never experienced the Gs the GT4 pulls in the Supra, but the Supra's weight distribution allows it to follow the same line mid-engine cars take around the track.
