I've seen a few threads where they were installed under the hood, but I don't want some loose wire hanging by the engine all year round. I went into the trunk and the positive cable has a stud specifically to hook up accessories on. Pull off the red cap and there's a nut underneath.
I installed the negative directly to the body underneath the battery tie down. When the cover goes back on the plug can easily be accessed and after winter it can be stored in the battery bay completely out of sight.

Hiya

Just ordered the same CTek charger, don't suppose you remember what terminal size is needed to connect to the battery tie down etc as they do 6mm, 8mm and 10mm. Just want to have everything to hand before starting :0)

Kind regards

It comes with everything included. Just make sure you put the negative on the body like the picture. I went in between the body and the battery brace.

I ran mine to the fuel filler door. Cut and soldered back together and used all weather heat shrink. Ive had it connected to both positive and negative terminals not the battery brace and it’s worked fine, any reason to not use the negative terminal?

I park nose-in in my garage and the only unused outlet for the CTEK is near the front so I attached mine to the terminal under the hood and fished the wire through the passenger side grill. It sticks out about 4 inches when needed and wedged back when not in use.

I wanted something quick and easy since I go on trips pretty often and leave her in the garage for a week or more.

I always like to have ignition sources as close to a combustible fluid as possible.

any reason to not use the negative terminal?
i believe the IBS requires everything to flow through the negative battery cable in order to calculate current. it's not exactly an ammeter, per se, but can detect current from any ground EXCEPT the negative terminal (since you're essentially skipping the little chip there).

that being said, the negative cable on the supra looks line a regular ol cable, so i dunno?‍♂

You want the current to run through the whole car, not just the battery. There's a thread somewhere explaining it, but basically it's bad going terminal to terminal.

Eh, maybe. But I didn't want to run an extension wire all the way up to the cowl.

I just use the standard wiring that came with the lithium CTEK model. My connection at the grill is only like 3 feet from the actual charger.

We all have different preferences based on location and where we park our cars in relation to available outlets. :dunno:
