Hey guys, so I'm currently on a stock exhaust + ams catted dp setup and want a new exhaust. I've noticed these Z-Pipe exhausts for the G8X platform, and wanted to see If I could create something similar by welding the Z midpipe to a simple Baba exhaust. If some more knowledgeable members could help answer some questions or build on this idea of mine that would be greatly appreciated.

Q:

Would it work in theory and make any difference to the tone of the exhaust? I'm going for something similar to the higher tone of the G8X exhaust mentioned. I understand the G8X platform has two inlets as opposed to the Supras single, so I question if it would make a difference as I'm not expert. I'm not looking for any performance gains or anything, just a good exhaust sound. Let me know what you guys think, thanks for any input!

It could work, but completely unnecessary, but you do you.

You typically want a merge of some sort to bring two banks together. H pipe for deep rumble. X pipe for more power and a higher / raspier tone. Z pipe showed some big power gains and sounds cool…but we have a single exit. It wouldn’t do what you want / think

need a valve? Buy Borla
No valve? Buy the best sounding setup; AWE touring

Appreciate the feedback! Yeah just an idea, prob too much work for something that won't make a difference. AWE Track or Touring is my likely option, only worried it might be too loud without valves. Might be a dumb question but if I have the AWE setup, would normal drive mode dappen the sound a bit even without the valves?

This. I have the AWE Touring on an MT, tuned with Stage 2 MHD OTS. I always drive in Sport mode where the loudness is essentially controlled by your right foot. If I need to be quieter I switch to non-sport mode and the burbles/pops/etc. disappear as per my tune's settings.

I have a crazy idea... Why don't you just fab a straight pipe. Instead of pissing money away on this Z pipe design. Its cheaper, easy to fab and will sound better. The G80s need this Z pipe because the s58 sounds like ass until you go single turbski
