Hello,

I recently upgraded my A90 Supra with a set of bucket seats, and while they provide excellent support, I've encountered an issue with the stock seat belts no longer being compatible. As a result, I'm now considering installing racing harnesses to ensure proper safety while driving on the track and during spirited drives.

Since this is my first time dealing with racing harnesses, I wanted to seek advice from those who have experience with similar modifications or have knowledge about installing harnesses in the A90 Supra. I have a few specific questions in mind:

  1. Given that I've installed bucket seats that can't accommodate the stock seat belts, how challenging would it be to install the anchors for racing harnesses in the A90 Supra?
  2. What type of harness and anchor points should I be looking for, considering my primary intention is occasional track use?
  3. Considering I'm not experienced in harness installation, would you recommend seeking professional help or is it possible to do it yourself with the right guidance?
  4. Are there any potential warranty issues or legal concerns I should be aware of before proceeding with the harness installation?
  5. What specific tools or equipment would be necessary for the installation process, considering I'm starting from scratch?
Safety is my utmost priority, so I want to make sure the racing harnesses are installed correctly and securely. Any advice, tips, or warnings you can provide based on your experiences would be immensely helpful and appreciated.

Thank you all in advance for your valuable insights!

1. Any front seat that is not a bench is a bucket seat. Unless you touge at Mt Akina ?
2. Seat belts work just fine with both fixed back or reclinable race seat. You just have feed it through the right way.
3. Harnesses are no bueno for the street. You want a regular seat belt and airbags (for safety reasons).
4. You need a roll bar to mount a harness properly and should have one before a fixed-back seat (for safety reasons).

Fixed back seats without a 5/6 point harness is dangerous. If you were to get in a collision, there is a chance you would submarine due to no crotch strap.

To run a harness properly, you need a roll bar… so these 3 things come in a package if you care about your safety.

You have 2 choices:

Hit up the manufacturer of your seat/mount and get an adapter for the OEM seatbelt.

OR

Run a roll bar/cage to mount the harness to, get a 5/6 pt harness, and run with a Helmet and HANS at all times.

Running a harness without a HANS is how you die in a simple accident (ask Dale Earnhardt).

Dashbuilt roll bars look like the best option for serious use.

Roll bars general:

Dashbuilt builds high quality roll cages and roll bars for numerous chassis platforms, for all types of use. We have customers that race or drive in almost all sanctioning bodies and HPDE groups. We are familiar with each rule set and strive to build high quality solutions for our customers. When building our bolt-in roll bars, we then use this knowledge and build practices to help design the best product with as little compromise as possible. ALL of our roll bars are built with Docol R8 tubing and TIG welded.

Dashbuilt adjustable harness height:

Because production roll bars aren't made to an exact persons size, seat type, seating position or Hans compatibility; harness angle can prove to be a challenge and often times wrong. We designed an innovative harness mounting solution targeted to fix this. Our roll bars offer 2 separate mounting heights to help you stay within the correct 0-20* harness angle. This is done by welding our machined eye bolt bungs into each harness bar and including the eye bolts and harness latches to convert your shoulder straps from wrap-around to latch-in. If this isn't enough, each roll bar can also be fully customizable to meet your individual needs!

Dashbuilt A90/A91 Supra Roll Bar Is a true bolt-in, motorsport quality bar that's offered in 2 different design configurations.

1) Standard With main hoop X and rear X. $2350

2) GP Lite- Uses a single main hoop diagonal and no rear X. Offers a lighter weight and price point. $1950

Dont want certifications, want something strong enough to hold a harness, and a straight bar isnt going to do it. If anyone knows another cage that does not require moving the seat even one inch forward, id be happy to use it. (No ZRK, im not gonna gut it and weld something custom in)

You don't have to weld anything to get a cert, but if safety is a concern, that ain't it.
