I have a dilemma, and wanted to hear your thoughts.
I have scheduled a full body PPF with a detailer, and it gonna cost $6.5k(10% of the MSRP)
I have no plans to sell or modify the car any time soon, might even keep it till I can't drive a stick lol
My goal is to keep the paint as brand new as possible, no scratches, swirl mark and etc. I'm also not a person that wants to wash/detail it myself.
I've seen folks that say I could repaint the car down the line for the same cost, but that ruins the value of the car, and I'm not looking for that.
Considering the info above, here is the real question. Should I save half that money and just do the front half PPF+ ceramic coating?

For me full PPF is a waste of money...

The only areas I had done with XPEL are the front bumper, headlights, and A-pillar and after 3 years the cars paint is still in pristine condition...

That said I would definitely add splash guards!

Also, I view ceramic coating as gloried wax and have never had it applied...

Front end PPF is good for peace of mind
I have full front end wrapped and the rest of the car ceramic coated
If it's just dusty, I can just foam it, rinse with soft water and blow air dry it
Takes max 20 mins for it to be back to 95% detailed , plus I never touch it
This car is a lifer for me, so I did spend the money on PPF
I'd recommend it

I have full car PPF and could I have better spent the $$ on something else? Most likely but I feel like I breathed on the clear coat and scratched it on the trunk when I was already planning on PPF so I knew that I'd be really upset at myself when washing if I made a mistake and screwed it up. I went for full body PPF and it has been a great decision. I also daily drive on the interstate with plenty of other trucks and vehicles to kick up rocks and I've 100% already been saved by the PPF multiple times.

PPF (I have kavaca) in general is a lot easier to wash. Also your detailer would be less likely to screw up your paint but that's less of a concern as you'd probably pick a decent one anyways. Just make sure you ask the PPF installer if you can view their current installs and be nit picky on what you see on their seams and wrapping around corners. If they're sloppy, pick another shop.

I got the full PPF for around the same price as yours, OP. I got it because I have the phantom paint color. If I didn't have this color, I would get the front portion PPF since that is the area that gets hit with rocks the most on freeways.

rear fenders are also a risk on the supra because they're wider than the front portion of the car.

That being said, it's hard to justify 6.5K on a full PPF.

Mine is wrapped in full xpel… it’s piece of mind for me. An investment indeed (but I’m an installer). A bit ocd with my cars.

I do still stay clear of freeways (way too many dump trucks with rocks and uncovered loads) during the week.

Now at nearly 8,000 miles after 2 years and still with perfect paint and clear bra.

Same here - went full ppf, less rear bumper due to phantom color, I got mine for around $5k…I put it on rear spoiler area before adding cf spoiler to protect paint under if/when I pull off…

I have the front half (hood, fenders, bumper, etc.) to protect against the normal road debris scenario. This was one of those "mandatory" things I had to buy from the dealer, but that being said, I'm happy for the piece of mind against rock chips.

I went YOLO and dropped it off for full PPF, even though the hole in my wallet is gonna be massive lol
They worked on some expensive cars, so I'm just hoping their work is top quality.

My 2023 3.0 is at the PPF shop right now, and the shop just called me and said their Llumar precut patterns doesn't fit well for the front bumper.

The shop owner wasn't satisfied with the results when they tried to put it on, so he said he didn't want to give me a half-baked product. He's gonna call his Llumar rep and see if they can do something, or recommend me a different shop that may do a bulk roll.

I've been going to them for years, so I appreciate their high bar of quality, and won't let poor quality leave their shop. They've always done great work on my tint, this is the first PPF I've tried.

This specific shop hasn't done Supras before, but he said he's seen Supras with 4 cut lines for the front bumper, which is something I really don't want.

Yep, first Xpel precuts for front bumper were 4 cut lines and horribly positioned. I dreaded putting them on...

My entire Supra is Xpel precut less the hood (one piece bulk). The tight seams on mine are hardly noticeable to anyone (keep in mind the color is tungsten silver). They blend very well unless I point it out and many still don’t see them.

I’ve finally got an appointment with the PPF guru in our area, Detail Freaks, next Monday. He’s going to be pissed I’ve already tracked it 3-4 weekends ??. Getting the front and rocker panels done.

Do I need to warn him about the camera/cruise/sensors? Not covering them up? My car is extra sensor picky ?
