Hesitation on Long Drives

Took my 2020 3.0 Premium to the Dragon two weeks ago. Same conditions as I always drive in (sport mode, VDC off, manual shifting).

About half way into the drive there was definitely hesitation when I would increase throttle. It’s almost like a quick/subtle pop then back to normal power. Did it for about 20 min on the highway and then stopped. No audible noises related to it.

The next day on the dragon it did it again after about 3 hours of driving. This was on a new tank of gas.

Over the last 2 weeks I’ve done a lot of short driving and have not felt the issue. Car just passed 40k miles so I’ll be doing spark plugs in a week or two. All other maintenance done outside of that.

Hey there partner. Sad to not have gotten some runs in with you, but it's likely a good thing as the other white supra almost slid off a cliff trying to lead me (They overdrove, not me pushing)

So it's hard to determine based on your diagnosis...Would it be safe to say this is when you apply throttle, but the car does not seem to increase in RPM as you would think?

If so, it's most likely due to the transmission decoupling. There was a comment posted by one of the exocet Profile-pic'd guys who made the claim. @licklobster I believe was the one who said it.

Man I was telling my wife about how you and that group of cars were crushing it. We almost got wrecked twice from the TN side back to NC so I was in “limp mode” for my wife’s sake.

Regarding the issue, I give throttle input and the car doesn’t respond for a split second, then revs intermittently surge, then everything smooths out.

Let’s say I’m cruising at 2k rpm in 7th or 8th on the highway. I don’t see rpm’s climb for a second after increasing throttle. I feel almost like a hesitation, then quick pop of surge and then the car accelerates normally.

Literally only happened from the drive from CLT to the dragon and on my 4 back to back dragon runs. Trip home it was fine. All other driving, including long trips I never had the issue

Yeah that happens. We all experience it and there's varying levels of success for getting rid of it by having the dealer update it's ISTA level.

Does the car have an xhp tune on it? If so, check the torque converter decoupling option in there.

Nope no tune. Just the dinan exhaust.

Any way to scan IATs? I wonder if it’s terribly heat soaked or something. Just a cat back exhaust?? Are you sure it isn’t tuned?

Yep thousand percent positive. ECU is locked based on manufacture date and also was able to track down the prior owner on this forum.

Temps outside were only 75 degrees and I was consistently cruising between 60-80mph, so kind of skeptical on the heat soak issue BUT totally arbitrary on my part since I wasn’t able to measure.
