always pull the e-brake. I figured that out while casually pushing the Supra around the garage like it was a shopping cart during a wipe-down.

I leave it in 1st as well.always pull the e-brake.
My 2023 manual the ebrake just works as expected. I have a sloping driveway so I always check after reports here. I stop the car in gear clutch disengaged pull the ebrake then turn the car off and release the clutch, car still in first gear. I do the same with the car in neutral pre shutdown or if I do the same and have the car in neutral and still running. I've never had the ebrake disengage in any scenario. Maybe it's the start/stop coding that messes it upYou are correct BMWAF, I got out of sequence and set the hydraulic brake before shutting the car down and it rolled. From now on I will shut it down, release the clutch leaving it in gear, then set the brake. I prefer a manual brake just like I prefer a dip stick.

I rarely need to park on a slope but yes, I just double check the ebrake and leave it in gear as a matter of course. It was mildly annoying before muscle memory kicked in.You are correct BMWAF, I got out of sequence and set the hydraulic brake before shutting the car down and it rolled. From now on I will shut it down, release the clutch leaving it in gear, then set the brake. I prefer a manual brake just like I prefer a dip stick.
Interesting. I haven't experienced it for a long time because I have adjusted the way I park but have never heard of this before. And yes, I indeed have a MY23 with Start/Stop coded out. Do you know if this bug is because of the coding or is it also present when the car is in Sport mode as start/stop is disabled then too?@BMWAF and @ivybridge,
Have either of you used BimmerCode to 'try' and disable Auto Start/Stop (either the Auto Start Stop Function Memory, or Auto Start Stop Function setting)? There is a bug in one of those settings where it will cause the car to release the parking brake when you open the door. I think this started to be a thing around mid-2023, so if you have an older car, please disregard. I know my 2024 will do this if I mess with those settings.
I can confirm that for a February built MY23 car start/stop most definitely works but I believe you're right that at some point in the 2023 built cars, this function was disabled. It does not manifest if you have the car set to start in Sport mode, this is how my car is configured. The issue with the parking brake releasing when opening the door went away immediately when I reverted back to the original Auto Start Function settings.
There was a thread on here somewhere where another member had this issue, had it diagnosed by Toyota (the dealership brought in extra talent to help with this) and they discovered it was due to the Auto Start Function coding, which also happens to not work anymore for MY23 and later cars. I cannot find the thread now though, my search kung-fu is weak.
My end of October 23 built car still has start stop function.I can confirm that for a February built MY23 car start/stop most definitely works but I believe you're right that at some point in the 2023 built cars, this function was disabled.
The search function here, while called upon often, actually sucks.
My 2025 Supra MT works exactly the same set up. I've never had any issues.2025 Z4 MT, coded to start in Sport Individual, in which Auto start / stop is set to off. That works perfectly, and prior to t the auto start / stop also worked perfectly (I just hated it because my daily driving has basically no lights, only a few stop signs, and it'd cut off at those which i think was a lot more frequently than needed).
Parking brake will disengage itself if I start letting out the clutch while in gear, but not at any other time.
Different car, but of course the same car. All working as expected.
