Hi,

I'm really annoyed. I attached a picture of the instructions from the owners manual and trying to replicate it but it doesn't work and the alarm goes off when I lock it!

Can anyone explain/share how they did this?

I am literally locking the car and then a few seconds afterwards, I'm pressing the lock button on the key, and it just makes a lock sound but not the 2 second indicator flash as the handbook says???

Thanks!

It works for me when I follow the instructions. Once in a while I have to lock it with the pup in the front seat for a brief time. When I don’t do this, she triggers the alarm. When I follow the steps, no alarm. .

Thanks - just to be 100% sure, so do you lock it with the keyless system putting your finger on the little handle groove, or using the lock button on the key?

And then, what exactly do you do next, just click the same lock button again right after? Or hold it pressed?
When I do it it seems to just do the 'lock' sound again but no 2 second blink.

Thanks!

I do not press and hold on the second, I just press and release
the fob lock button w/in the 10 seconds.

I don't know what the hell is wrong but it doesn't work. I lock it, wait 5 seconds, then click lock, and all it does is make the 'lock sound' again, but no lights/flashes.
I also know that it isn't working because I put a wireless pc fan inside to aid ventilation in my damp garage, and annoyingly this sets off the alarm! My neighbour was... yeah.
Anyone know how to resolve this stupid issue or even disable the alarm all together? It's pointless anyway, my garage is locked and key is faraday packed.

Did you buy the car used? I want to say there is a setting in BimmerCode that will turn off the sensor completely. If so and you aren’t the first owner maybe someone coded that out.

I just tried it on mine and it works as described. Lock the car, it beeps, mirrors fold in and the status light starts flashing. After a few seconds hit the button on the fob. No beep, status light goes solid for 2 seconds and then starts flashing again.

Only thing I can think of is if your car is actually shut down when you try it? Maybe if it’s not, the process doesn’t work?

T H A N K Y O U!
Dude, this is the thing you finally cleared up for me, all this time I been looking at the turn signal lights to flash for 2 seconds, I didn't realize what the owner's manual meant is the red alarm little light on the rear view mirror... *FACEPALM*. Finally, I saw it work and I can sleep at night again without worrying it'll go off lol
