It might. If you are looking for a downpipe with a no-check engine guarantee, you need either the active autowerke or the Fabspeed

With all the other options, there is a risk of getting the check engine light

Yes the downpipe itself does not make a difference, it's the cat used.

But

Not any GESI will work, it depends on which GESI is used and the model of the car.
I know Active had to upgrade their GESI cats a few years ago to guarantee the no check engine light.
