You're most probably correct, but seeing how Toyota used the A90 for marketing I would bet they'll use the JZ for the same thing. There is no engine officially called the 4U-GSE, and there is no official chassis code A90.
Developed by Toyota with consulting done by Yamaha iirc. This is different from from when Yamaha is contracted to do the work in-house.I don't think that is applied anymore. Was the FA20's (4U-GSE) head developed by Yamaha?
Random question, but do you know if Toyotas D4S technology was designed in collaboration with Yamaha? Of course, Toyota has been experimenting with DI since the 2JZ-FSE days, which Yamaha may have had a hand in, so I always wondered if Toyota's (arguably) best head technology was developed with Yamaha.Developed by Toyota with consulting done by Yamaha iirc. To further complicate this, the new iron block I6 for the A90 was developed by Toyota with ex-Yamaha engineers working on it (according to Moto-san).
Any chance you are at liberty to say if it will be present in the supra engine?I pulled up a white paper we have on it, and it credits Yamaha, Denso, and some others will assisting in development, but more or less appears to be in house Toyota design.
Attached is the D4S white paper that I've had filed away for years that is likely the same document that A70 is referring to. Toyota/Lexus credits both Yamaha and Denso with helping to develop this breakthrough technology.Random question, but do you know if Toyotas D4S technology was designed in collaboration with Yamaha? These are more important questions for sure.Fascinating - that the engine isn't a B58 derivative. I am very curious to know whether the B58 will be offered in the A90 at all, and whether the "3JZ/8M/BJZ whatever" will be offered in the Z4
