Brembo's GTR BBK for the front is $10k itself :)

-Josh
Oof. Yeah I'm good. I messaged Essex to see if they'll cut me a deal if I grab the front and back. I'm sure the answer is going to be a hard no. I guess the good thing is that they'll give you excellent customer support and will rebuild you calipers for $80.

Saw this one on the gram. Reminded me of you previous build.

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with the engine bay. I'm thinking of staying away from carbon fiber this time, but I want to make it pop. I'll figure something out. As of right now I'm going with an EOS/CES bottom mount turbo, so that's not going to be seen.

Damn. That right there almost kills it for me. It does look good though.

Were they quick to respond to you during the purchase process and just ghosted you after you got the brakes?
No instructions so I had to send them a bunch of messages during install. A lot of their responses were along the lines of "the bracket only fits one way" which isnt super helpful, but I eventually got enough info to get them installed. Just a quick install guide would have been all I needed from them initally. Ive since helped probably 10 other supra owners with installs.

its a great kit for the price, especially if the new brackets help everything fit better.

I just got my chat transcript back. They did their final test on the rear brake setup with the EPB about 2 weeks ago, so I'm sure the release will be soon. I'm waiting to hear back from them on their total cost so I can compare.

I'm wondering if it's best to wait for some Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals. I got a few things priced out and it's so expensive lol. Everything increased in price while I was gone. Even before tariffs things were going up in price.

--------------------------------------------

Stud conversion kit delivered today... I guess I will throw them on and clean the calipers and wheels. I hate cleaning wheels so much. ? I'll also test out my other wheels and hope that my eyeballs did not lead me wrong with the offset.

Lot of those fancier brands don't do anything for Black Friday :\

Never hurts to reach out to us though ;)

The rear AP Racing brakes will be released in 8 weeks in case anyone is interested.

Complete AP Racing kit with all the fixins + shipping + taxes = $13,533.
Nitron elec-TRON R3 Coilover + tariff + shipping = $8880

Those are some depressing numbers. The brakes alone cost more than a top tier turbo kit. I really want to build something special. But I want to retire early as well. Whatever. I'll let future me worry about retirement.

Are you planning on tracking the car?

I'm just building a street car. I want something that provides better granularity with adjustments. The RSR coilovers I had made street driving unbearable after adjusting them for curvy mountain roads or back roads. Having something that allows me to make compression adjustments I feel will make street driving more comfortable while also allowing for better control in winding roads.

If you have an alternative suggestion that would be great. I know there is the KW DDC, but I feel I'll be having the same exact issue I had with the RSR setup. I'm sure they're nicer, but I'm not reading anything on being able to adjust rebound, low compression, and high compression independently.

I'm open to suggestions and corrections.

As for the brakes... I just want something nicer with a company that provides lifetime support. My previous setup had a few fitment issues and problems with the EPB. All these cheaper BBKs are just rebranded parts, so support for them were lack luster since they were at the mercy of the manufacturer.

Essex is right down the road from me and do complete rebuilds for super cheap. They'll also replate the calipers for a little more. My last brake kit started having the anodization discolor and the painted logo flake off from being cooked from the heat.

Both those coilovers and brakes you listed seem like extreme overkill for the street. This isn't me judging your wants at all. I get wanting to have nice stuff too. However, you could choose something like Ohlins coilovers for a great street ride and be at almost 1/2 of the price. However, you lose the actual EDC function.

Brakes, for street driving, OEM is 1000% fine but if you want nicer looking brakes, I totally get it, just depends on if spending $14k for basically better looking brakes is worth it for you.

Not sure if you saw my other post, but another option are the 6 pot M brake calipers (Basically Brembo GT) and rotors, but only if you plan on 19" wheels or larger.

Since you arent tracking, honestly the SW kit might be for you. In terms of support the calipers are off the shelf parts, and Paragon makes replacement rings. I dont expect they will be hard to service and will cost way less than full racing AP brakes.

I actually looked into this. I am still weighing other options. If I feel like I can go a cheaper route and be happy with being able to maintain it going forward. I was also looking at replacing the rears going this route, but then remembered that the non ceramic M cars basically have the same rear brakes as well.

These guys are failing my litmus test. They have yet to respond to my inquiry on their brakes. Not sure if they think I'm some kind of tire kicker, just don't care to respond to people in general, or if they are having issues with their e-mail service. Only thing that I asked that was out of scope of what they currently offer is whether they had the means to get the calipers nickel plated. I didn't ask for anything crazy.

It was an extended weekend as well. So I'll give them until next Monday before sending a follow up e-mail.

One reminder is that your Final Edition already has larger front brakes compared to the "Normal" Supras. 374mm rotors and larger calipers from the 5 series. (VS 348mm for normie supras)

Even the ceramic M cars get the single piston rears. However, the M car rear caliper and rotors are also larger than our Supra.

M2/3/4:

Front
380x36 rotors
Rear
370x24 rotors

M5 and ceramic options:

Front
395x36 rotors
Rear
380x28 rotors

I have this outlined with part numbers in this spreadsheet.

Yep. That's the first thing I noticed when I went to pick up the car. I knew it had bigger brakes, but was surprised at how big they looked in person. I wouldn't mind keeping the stock fronts... but rear brakes just kill me. What I meant by my previous statement is that the M cars have the same design. Rough finished caliper painted in a gloss color. Just reminds me of people spray painting their cheap calipers. Even my F-Type R had similar brakes in the rear.

I would be more than happy to pay less for OEM calipers if I can manage to get them finished and mounted properly without janky work arounds.

I know I probably sound like I got something broken in my head, but I have severe issue with attention to detail. I'm going to continue looking at alternative brakes.

The suspension I'm definitely forking over the funds for. They look like artwork... that no one will ever see. I also think it will help me enjoy the car a lot more on spirited drives around the mountains and the 1 or 2 times I go to VIR during the year. ( I don't count going to a race track 1 or 2 times a year as tracking the car)

Thanks for reminding me about them. I was actually trying to find them, but forgot the name of the company. I remember them stating that everything is built in-house in Japan. I'll take a look at them right now. Time for more due diligence :(

Edit: Yeah I think I'm going to keep AP Racing for the front running. These just to be the same as R1 Concepts, Ceika, APG, and other similar brands.
