Just received the m-link tool today. Will be unlocking and flashing the ECU in a few hours.

ofc its raining where I am today. Fantastic luck lol
Lynne can pull your actual file so you can save the stock one, thus allowing you to revert back to full stock for small purposes if you needed it. If not, this is Ware auto tuner and FM two might be a little better for people that have to have the stock DME.

The first guy that tuned my car never saved mine. I coulda choked him. Good to know the Supra community possibly has a fix.
You can spoof CVN's on Evos anyway... at least that is what I have heard. ;)

I did the unlock last night using m-link. Very straight forward (although the dme connectors are a pain to get out and out in if you are prone to stress lol). I can confirm that this is an at home unlock.

this was done on a 2024 mt, and I purchased the super license m-link package. I flashed mhd onto the car afterwards. The unlock itself takes about 15 seconds to complete and is a series of pressing two buttons. Super easy. I was also able to back up an image of my dme prior to unlocking in case I need to go back for any reason.

it’s a little expensive compared to other offerings atm, but being able to do this at home and re-unlock in case it gets locked again is nice peace of mind.

car is fast af now would recommend lol

Hahah yea, takes longer to connect the device then to unlock.

How much was the new post-June 2020 unlock license?

$350 without the extra backup. $500 with an extra backup option.

from MHD it’s the same license as every other car

Oh, the unlock license is part of the hardware cost like when I bought my pre-June 2020 unlocker from them? That is a great price for home unlocking. I am interested in what additional licenses are for unlocking more cars. They don't publish it on their site. I will email them.

This, this is exactly what I’ve been looking for. If it’s capable of backing up the original file (and saving that mofo to 20 different hard drives). True story, had 3 computers, all in a raid backup configuration (every hard drive mirrored), left on deployment, Hurricane Katrina rolls in a few weeks to a month later…. 7+ foot water line…. Salt water eats platters clean, lost everything, even with this setup.

Thank you for this information!! @ColonelAdama you know what this means…..

These are part of the reason I sold my Evo and Supra. CA was getting good at detecting changes to ECUs and I couldn't confirm that I could put things back to OEM enough to pass the CID/CVN checks. I seem to remember people editing files and/or having ROMs I didn't have access to, so I gave up. Such a shame, as the Evo passed everything else just fine, including visual (with the OEM cat installed).

If this is ever confirmed to work for CA residents, it may get me off the fence on buying another MkV. Fingers crossed for everyone.
Appears this works, can backup your original file (according to the post above) even if that costs a little extra, that is peace of mind every 2 years and $0 out of pocket costs ever again.

I think the only question that remains is that if you go back to the backed up image, what shows up for the state when they look at your ecu image? It seems like it should easily pass

Armin Hohvn (he now unlocks using autotuner and also does remote coding) confirmed if you have the original file, it will rewrite with the stock CVN CID numbers. So, with your confirmation that this will allow you to download and save the original stock file as a pure image (aka identical backup), I’m not worried.

So since the new unlocks by Femto and AutoTuner are advertised as unlockable, even after locked by the dealer, then does this permanent unlock alter the OEM CID and CVN when locked?

Or does it still retain OEM CID and CVN as if it was untouched?

From everything I’ve asked, put together and read, once you reflash back to stock using your own image, the CVN & CID is the original.
From what razorlab posted before, once he put MHD (or whichever tuning software) this is when the CVN & CID numbers changed. The unlock itself doesn’t change them, the tuning software does.

Ahh Okay, always thought the unlock itself changed numbers.

Unlock does not change CVN:

MHD flash with custom tune does. Also MHD changes the detected unlock too it looks like haha.

Does unlock change the CID?

Edit: NM I looked at the pic 😆
