Stunning car.

Have you had a chance to drive it on the highway? I was reading a review and noted the below comments. Is it noticeably louder\buzzier at speed? Guess with an aftermarket it may result in some drone.

" he manual ’box also saves 22kg and brings the Supra close to 1450kg. If there’s an obvious drawback, it’s that fewer ratios mean the manual car will be busier at a cruise, needing 2592rpm to sit at 70mph compared with the auto’s 1813rpm. "

Got to drive my A91-MT home from the dealer through horrible traffic and rain yesterday. I will say, I'm extremely happy so far with the feel of the clutch and transmission. I would agree with the consensus that everything has a good mechanical but still smooth and precise feel to it. The weight of the clutch pedal is nice and the catch point is in a decent spot as well. I had absolutely no idea the manual would come with the auto stop/start and thought I stalled out at the first traffic light I hit.

Just picked up my MT - love it.

Any Manual owners here can help with reverse gear advice?

When pushing to the left it really doesn't want to go in, and it feels like an un natural amount of force needed to get it in reverse.

Congrats man! Are you in North America? Didn't know 3.0 Premium MT's were being delivered already, that's awesome!

On my A91-MT the reverse gate feels excellent; it requires a deliberate decision to shift into, but doesn't require anything that i'd categorize as an unnatural amount of force. It feels exactly as I would expect; a little bit of extra tension just enough to ensure that you realize you're going into reverse.

Try to see if you can feel the shifter on the next MT that your dealership gets in and see if it feels any different.

EDIT: Just read your username and saw your rear plate mount, and deduced that you're OBVIOUSLY not in North America... LMAO.

Thanks for the reply.
I'll ask the dealer for advice too, I jusy hope there isn't something wrong with it.
I'm in UK - it's the "entry level" GR 3.0 MT here they call the premium "Pro".
One insurer told me mine was the 3rd here.
Gonna try different techniques tomorrow and if still feels weird might have to get it looked at which would really suck.
Drives like a dream though.

I agree with you, I was surprised with the amount of force you need to use to put into reverse. When I first picked it up I thought something was wrong but have since gotten use to it. I don’t think there is anything wrong with yours.

I drove on the highway today. At 80 it is at 3000 rpm. It seem loud/buzzier at speed. I did not own a AT Supra so I can’t compare to it. The thing I noticed most was the tire noise at 80 vs the engine/exhaust. I was also not in Sport mode so that will change it as well.

Posted this in another thread, but I found that kind of smacking the shift lever over directly to the left with your palm and a bit of force and then up like normal gets it into reverse just fine. It does take a little more force than I thought it would but just practice a couple times and it's no big deal. The transmission being new probably contributes a bit to this as well and I'm sure it gets slightly easier over time.

Thanks Prado150! Yeah I hope it gets a bit smoother as it breaks in.

To the guy that asked about the shifter position: I gotta be honest, I love this car but some reviewers were right, the center console is high especially if you're tall (6"1') and lower the seat - so it does feel kinda weird lifting your elbow up sometimes to shift.
However I have not experienced the "knuckle" issue i.e. hitting the dash.

The shifter is really small and extremely notchy. Easy to find gears, reverse sucks ass, I really hate it, I have a freaking fiat panda as a daily (UK) and reverse is way smoother and easier to put in, I think it's ridiculous, I almost couldn't leave ths dealership as I couldn't get reverse, which never happened to me in amy car in my life.
Clutch is deep, but bite is early, so takes getting used to, leg feels like it's hyperextending.
Still, I'm a sucker, I love the way it looks and sounds so I'll forgive the flaws (for now atleast).

For everyone asking for a proper write up I just got the car back from PPF and spent the day ceramic coating it, I have driven it on the highway ajd to me it is silent, compared to my very loud catless 2020, I will see how that changes when the exhaust is installed. Give me a few more days with the car I really want to give an honest and thorough opinion and review. As I’ve now owned a few Supra’s and driven countless, along with most of the competitors etc etc.

As excited as everyone is to hear about it, take your time man. I'm confident @Ryanthetemp was taking the piss too. We appreciate the info you've already spilled to us waiting plebs and I'm sure everyone is looking forward to what else you (and others) have to report!
