Were you able to retune your Supra after updated?
Yep, all is well. Just make sure you contact your tuner after the recall is completed so they can reset your account (with BM3 anyway)

After all this, wouldn't it suck if BMW announced another recall to reflash your ECU once again? ?

Was on the "Fence" for the recall. Not for a locked ecu, not tuned anyway.
But I don't trust the dealer, took them 2 months and Toyota involved to get the navigation activated.
Had my first service done in February and they offered the update at that time, was in a hurry and waiting to get the service done, so I declined.
Last Monday when I left for work and backed out of the garage, yep, no brakes.
Had to use 2 feet to pull to a stop, scared the crap out of me.
Got it towed and the vacuum pump is fried.
Got the update now, lol and should be a week for the part to arrive...
This vacuum pump, hard part to install? Lots of disassembly?
Anything I should look for when I get the car back?

Yow!! And now your cars at dealer, awaiting
Parts, with probably no eta on arrival!
I’m in the same boat as u, don’t trust dealer
Nor there techs ( but I still have brakes)
Vacuum pump gets fried?! I didn’t realize that the update PREVENTS that! I might have to reconsider this update?! Damn!

Did you start the car wrong? Doesn’t sound too bad if the brakes go out right away instead of mid drive
Nearly possible to tell. It's a momentary switch on the dash. Insanely easy to double tap and have literally zero idea that it ever happened. Electrons like to jump between conductive surfaces in tiny differences. This whole thing can happen in milliseconds.

It's not like it's something you'd do intentionally. If a shake in your hand, a twitch, jussstttt enough to move a little bit of juice through the system.

Well... After putting it off for quite awhile now I decided to pull the trigger on the recall. I don't daily my Supra so I was just putting it off as long as possible based on some of the issues others have experienced here.
I had it done yesterday at my local Cincinnati dealership... Took less than 1.5 hours and it couldn't have gone any better. I walked back to the bay where the Supra Tech was and basically just hung out with him while he worked. He was great.
Now at I-level S18T-21-07-519

Of course I had to re-configure many of my personal settings as well as Bimmercode but all is good for now. No tune yet.

Should have the car back next week Tuesday, will be exactly 3 weeks sins I lost the brakes.
Toyota found the part (Vacuum pump) at another out of state dealer.
Otherwise was looking a 3 months wait.

For those on the fence of doing the recall,
The risk of being without a car, waiting for parts and no brakes, please do it soon,
daily driver or not, not a good feel, when you press the brakes and nothing happens...
I understand for those with a tune, I really do, but what good will a tune be when you can't brake
crash or worse?

Been saying it for a year. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ not to mention, you can just re-bench unlock. Not only is $400 not an amount of money for anyone that purchased a 50-60k dollar car, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than smashing into someone and wasting your time dealing with that.

Got the car back the other day, took them a little of 3 weeks to get it repaired.
Part was sourced from another dealer and was send over the slowest way possible to West Palm Beach... Imagine if the part needed to come from overseas...
All is well, car brakes again lol, update went great and full Apple CarPlay, OEM navigation works too.
Had to redo all Bimmercode and set presets.

just wondering whether i have to remove the high flow cat downpipe b4 i go back for the brake booster recall ?

the below is the cut and paste from the toyota service department :

" We will need the car for a minimum of 4 hr working time
As it is a software update we need to confirm that there are no modifications to the cars mechanicals or any of the ecu,s or audio unit.
The recall will return all settings to manufacturer's specification and may cause rough running and navigation and head unit issues if the vehicle has any modifications.
It may also overwrite any aftermarket software. "
