Side question for my own knowledge. Is there a reason you’re running a catch can? Just wondering since my car and many others are making a good amount of power over stock with aftermarket setups and aren’t running catch cans

I did some research on the oil on charge pipe usually it was cause by the blow by. I just do not want this oil to circulate back into the engine and mishimoto did quite an extensive research and came out with a solution to the issue I have include the link there.

I’m aware of their purpose, but if you’re experiencing enough blow by to indicate a need for a catch can, then you have bigger issues elsewhere (especially on a stock setup)

Also, an oil catch can is a must-have, I feel else u will have lots of carbon build-up and might have block intercooler issues. Of cos, this is only true if you intend to drive this car for a long time like more than 3 years. as such, I am doing all the prevention ...

I think the in and out of the OCC might be fixed wrongly anyone had installed the OCC can show me the pic of the charge pipe is it dry ?

if you pull out your charge pipe now ... it should be covered with oil for non OCC installation .... (this is normal), but mine still covered with oil with an OCC (this is not normal)...

B58 is known for having blow by even in a stock setup. Just that with a higher boost is even worst ????

Weird. My car and multiple others are making over 900whp on our setups without the need for a catch can. It's odd that a car on stock turbo/boost needs one. Guess I'm just a believer in not spending money on something just because it's made for my car.

Good luck though man. Wish I could help with your problem. Sounds like you'll figure it out though :)

I definitely don't/didn't even on stock turbo. When I changed my pipe at 6k miles it was as clean as a whistle. I guess I was just lucky though.

For your own reading on the matter... this has been covered on the forums and it seems the consensus is on stock turbo they are not needed. These two I'm posting don't cover too much but I didn't feel like digging into it further since I'm not having the issue myself. Having owned multiple turbo cars in my life I have seen a fair amount of blow-by but never needed to install a catch can. Only did it once because I thought it looked cool in the engine bay (and then my tuner at the time had me remove it, because all it did was add a massive boost leak to my system lol)
