My supra is pretty much stock all it has is catback exhaust i purchased 5W-40 oil and mixed opinions on which oil to use. Do I return the oil and buy 5W-30 or can i use 5W-40 and switch after I use it . If i do return it I have to pay around $30 for shipping to return so not sure if it’s worth the return thank you!

If you’re stock, use whatever to be honest. You probably don’t need 5W-40 for your application. Ow-20 would even be fine for you. I’m tuned and on 5w-30. I’d keep the oil for a future oil change and buy new oil

You’re perfectly fine running it. The heavier oil will not damage anything. I would consider an oil weight more aligned to the weather temps in your area.

The most important thing about oil for a BMW engine is that it meets the BMW oil specifications.

stock use BMW LL17FE oil specification
Tuned or track use BMW LL01 or BMW LL04 specification

The answer to every oil thread is 0w20 is water. If you use it the engine will blow up. 😂
