Oil temp - Hidden Menu vs Bimmelink

Just a few days ago i got my MHD Universal ODB WiFi dongle and also purchased Bimmerlink, so i can monitor some stuff.

Although i'm a bit confused when i checked the oil temp via the hidden menu and compared it to the read out in Bimmerlink.
Bimmerlink was always 10° C lower.
Watertemp on the other hand was the same.

Does the B58 have several oil temp sensors and Bimmerlink reads a different one when the hidden menu?

There are multiple oil temps. Some are inferred.

Which Bimmerlink vs the dash is using, who knows.

So i guess the most interesting ones would be after filter to see at what temp the oil gets into the engine.
And second one the one which shows the oil at the hottest (sump?) to roughly know what stress it goes through and how much it heats up.

Oil temp in the sump is usually lower than in the engine by a few degrees, although with it covered by the undertray it should be close. Oil temp in the head "should" be the highest as the oil has now traveled through the engine. Oil temp inside where you can't really measure it well is where it's highest, so inferring by measuring somewhere right before the oil gets to the sump is best. Even so, just having a number helps.

Not sure if this helps, but the reading from my Torque app matches the hidden menu.
