Pedal stuck

This is my first thread on this beautiful website and I’ve wanted to discuss and ask if anybody have ever faced this problem or even solved this problem


few days ago, I was trying my car out I was about to launch off, my accelerator pedal got stuck, car was acting crazy, I stopped on the right and went under the steering wheel I saw the pedal was stuck deep inside, I have to grab it manually and pull it out to make it into a neutral position

so have anybody faced This problem, nor solvedit?

PS my car is 2020 SupraMk5 with a charge pipe, mid pipe delete, downpipe, and JB4

This is most commonly not pedal related and issues are from floor mats sliding underneath the actual pedal. Have you ruled out external factors like shoe strings, debris near or under the pedal - floor mat etc?

If you’re a car enthusiast, I’m sure you remember the floor mat law suit involving Toyota years ago. Even the maintenance schedule for the Supra says to inspect the floor mat on every single service interval due to the lawsuit around that very event.

It's impossible to be the floor mat or anything else getting stuck under it, our pedal pivots from the bottom, not the top.

If you’re 100% sure that there’s nothing physically creating it and it’s happened twice already, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Have the vehicle towed to a reputable shop and have the problem repaired. It’s never worth losing your life over a maintenance repair, and I’d make sure the shop is well aware if they say nothing is wrong and you know there’s nothing wrong then they will be the ones holding all the liability and Toyota will be involved in that as well if something were to happen after repair etc. Please make this a top priority and do not drive the vehicle and risk yourself and others with a definite issue of safety like this.

Well-yes in basic theory, but a torn or damaged mat or aftermarket mats are all designed differently and I was more pointing out if it was ripped or torn it could be debris from the mat involved. So yes the mat cannot be under the pedal at the bottom but it can be involved in the issue.

How so? The pedal cannot physically get caught on the floor mat unless the floor mat was floating above it on the firewall.

Isn't there a spring behind the pedal. That has to be the culprit.

Yeah, call the dealership and have them tow it to their service center. That's a huge safety risk.

Hey, I had a problem with my pedal too.
I was at cresson motor speedway for my Toyota track day. Going in to corners after slowing from 115, the car would not down shift. It's like it was stuck. I would have to press it again and let up quickly in the turns.
Luckily my instructor was a BMW mechanic. He told me that some pedals have stuck or not let the car know it was supposed to be down shifting. We messed with pedal after run, pushed it up and down all the way.
It did it one more time.
I took car to dealership and they drive car and said they could not find a problem.
Of Course. Has not done ot again.
Point is that they can stick!

No mention of brakeing..

Coming off a straight away at 115mph you have to hit the brakes super hard!
Not sure if you have been on a road course, but that's a must! Breaking.
It's like the car did not register the gas pedal had been released and was stuck in the same position and gear. So it should of down shifted, bit did not. I had to press on gas pedal and paddle shift it to get it to down shift to like 2nd gear. So basically gas pedal was stuck in position and did not recognize a slow down.
