Anyone experience a significant power lose on track after a while on hot days?

I lost about 15mph in the straight this last weekend at autoclub at the end of the weekend outside temp was about 90F

On track I use either 101 or 98 octane w/jb4 set to 20psi absolute target…depending on what the track has available, I should be using e30 on track but I have been an idiot and putting it off to get the gas cans and taking fuel to the track

temp gauge never moves above middle line and always make sure to have fuel tank above 50% at least

I'm assuming you've checked the easy stuff, but just in case: Any codes being thrown? Are you monitoring IATs (i.e., are they about the same as before your notice the power loss or are they significantly higher)?

Fairly common issue. Data log next time and ill bet you see your IATs climbing and timing being pulled due to it. The intake manifold/water to air exchanger heat soaks and cant keep up. The only real solution is going to a new manifold which is unfortunately an expensive fix.

Running E40-50 lets me get further without issues but I still cant run my highest power setting for a whole session. I get a couple degrees pulled with a lower ambient temp then you on E50. I ended up just turning the car down as I have no need to put a hole in a piston over "winning" at a track day.

Couple of tips:
- Make sure your tank is at least 3/4 full as you could be fuel starving a bit.
- Lift and coast for a few corners per session
- Always open your hood after a session and try and angle it so its in the shade.
- Water/Meth injection with some ice thrown in the tank would also help. Unfortunately my MAP sensor failed and im still dealing with support trying to get it replaced.

Not a Corvette.
High IAT reduces power.

Time to upgrade cooling if you want to run that kinda boost on track

Also, if you don't take your engine cover off when at track, start doing so. Every little bit helps and the cover traps a ton of heat.

Sounds like an high IAT issue. Intake manifold is a way to go. I'm wondering if you also have the Verus turbo heat shield. That helps too.

15 mph is a lot! I would 100% run a log and send to tuner/burger
When I ran JB4 on the track Burger told me to use map4. Absolute targets are risky for a whole session I believe
I definitely heat soak but only lose 5 mph or so.

I would be running more E and less race fuel. It burns cooler

No codes or anything and no logs since I either have my track time or jb4 up Maybe I should just use one session for car checkup from now on until I figure out a way to do both

I am using the heat shield I even wrapped the sucker and now I can rest my hand on the air intake immediately after opening the hood after a track session it stays so cool guess this is just expected then for now and I need to adjust my driving until I can solve it the right way ?
