This thing has to be the biggest sales flop in recent history.
I think it did survive a few years but I also think maybe they should've made a more accessible car with a little less technology that was priced closer to $70-90K. The $150+K segment is pretty crowded between 911, GT-R, M8, AMG GT, R8, etc. and there are not many buyers to chase.

I am sad that it was a sales flop but it was ahead of its time. The problem with the NSX was having the name "NSX". Most people who would of picked up this NSX are people who were born in the 80's/90's who didn't have a chance to get the 1st NSX brand new. If they called this any other name like Acura NEX or just removed the hybrid system to make it more tunable, it would have been a much bigger hit imo. The design is gorgeous, i love it! But it was not the NSX that potential buyers wanted which caused the flop. You bring back such an epic nameplate, the expectation would be to be able to tune and tinker with it which is what made the original more epic.

The NSX name had nothing to do with it. The price tag and Acura branding was the killer. Those that could afford a $150k+ car went to Porsche, Audi, etc., and those that couldn't bought a C8.

The newer Nsx is more closer to the $200k price range after taxes and options. Most people in that price range will be picking up something other than that.... Paying $200k for a Honda, oh man........ lol

all that R&D, tooling, etc. to sell 1,386 vehicles over 5 years, avg ~277 annually, 23 monthly. Well, not bad actually :)
200K a piece: $277M, annually ~55M. Would be curious to see what the profits look like..
but I agree, even though they've done phenomenal engineering on it with sleek design and even put it under their luxury brand Acura, well, I hope they had predicted this much sales beforehand, who knows though sometimes people are over enthusiastic.. because only car enthusiasts, rich people for shits and giggles, and some people coming from NSX heritage bought it.
Exactly! why buy Acura when you can buy Porsche, R8, Vette, etc. but same with Supra, yet with these sales these figures, I think people should be happy that Supra is priced as is.
