Track rats, opinions on mix-matching tires? My rear RT660 are basically done or very near; 1 hot track days or maybe 2 at best before cords start to show...anyway

I can pick up two P Zero Corsa Systems but unsure how it'll affect overall the car with them being 60W rating in the back and some used 200 in the front. Paging @razorlab

I am being cheap as I want to start next season with a new fresh set of CRS or a new car :D
I can’t speak for Bryan ofc. But if you want to save some coin… light them up ? I keep a stack of old tires in my garage. I’ve got two sets (8 tires) that aren’t completely done. I’ll use em up. Yes the feeling will be different, I’ll adapt. I won’t be going for a personal best & I can rotate on a square setup. Once they are cording or close to it, I’ll buy a full set (all 4 same brand) of new tires to slap on and be ready to send it ?

That is the cheap way to go. The best way would be to buy a new set of tires right now.

Found out the hard way. Survived my first ever track day a couple months ago at NJMP Thunderbolt. Picked up some wheels/tires off a forum member.. some track pads and fluid. Downpipe/tune are my only other mods. The day went perfectly, couldn't be happier with how the car performed other than me overdriving a bunch, a healthy amount of understeer. Hot brakes.

Anyways I was dealing with a pretty annoying clicking sound coming from all four corners depending on load. Did some research and apparently it's somewhat common with Apex forged wheels, took them off to remount them (fixed my clicking sound temporarily) and found this. My left rear must've self cleared on the track. Had no idea this was happening, bummed out. Will have them off the car again today to further inspect what the heck happened, what it ground on. Figured I'd report that the 19x11 et40 does not work on track ? stock suspension, no spacer.

self clearing = weight savings!
18x10 apex wheels work well as a square set up. They fit with no spacers, you have a lot of tire options for 275/35/18 and is plenty of grip with right aero/ camber/ tow/ setup. I actual run 265 wide P zero slicks on them as well and there is plenty of grip even being a little narrower. So not sure trying to squeeze wider tires will make a noticeable difference.

Plenty of grip < more grip.

Going 11” and slicks after TT season

Also, maybe not everyone wants to run slicks and aero to compensate for the lack of tire width...

This thread is about bringing our supras to the track, that does not mean everybody turns it into an all out track car.

I know I would never personally consider putting a giant wing and splitter on my Supra.

I’m with ya. But it’s nice to hear all the options we have for our cars. And if other people are willing to do all the testing for us, more power to them ?

If you can keep your car as close to stock as possible, that’s a great way to go! She’s a fantastic track car. Unfortunately, I have the case of the track bug ?. No matter how hard I try to keep her stock, things just happen ? I swore I’d never get seats this go round. Now I’m thinking when & who will do it.

Hear me out, my car is not gonna be stock for long. Been tracking my cars for 15 years and that's basically why I bought the Supra.

Just wanted to attract the attention on the fact that not everyone will want to go that far with their Supra, so might not be an option for @kontra

Spage wing df values, for 70" lenght. For 66" it will be around 5-6% less.

Thanks for finding that. I was initially confused on the downward parabola shape, but then I realized they were presenting discrete data as curves (note the uneven X-increment).

Here's the raw extracted data for 18 AoA and 70 inch. Data has not been multiplied by 66/70.

145 @ 60 mph
618 @ 120 mph
939 @ 150 mph

Mods asleep - Post up your alignment specs.
Lowered on MSS springs to min
Staggered 19 wheels

Mostly dedicated track car. Low HPDE level. Plan is to just have post lowering alignment and use it as baseline before adding aero.

Front: max camber (higher than OEM due to lowering) - toe as close to zero as possible. Caster OEM

Rear: max camber, toe in the midline of spec (0.11)
