I'm fine with being the test victim. But I do have to say, once you get the tune, you will be kicking yourself for not doing it earlier.
I'm okay with that, as long as I can do so with full confidence.
I just don't want to do anything to my car that's going to to either break something or need a silly amount of maintenance to keep healthy.
If I could toss the tune in and everything else would remain the same I would be totally down.
I can wait a little longer. This car is already a blast. ????

Nice thing about the JB4, you can just turn it off while tracking. And I know you can track with it too. Jesse has done that for others. I just have to get off my arse and send him some logs.

Meanwhile, no lights on my dash again. As in no CEL with my catless downpipe. So weird. Happened the other day ?

I did forget to mention the biggest thing. Even if you dont want to mess with the line psi and shifting speed stuff, I would still do it to remove the TQ limiter. That is seriously the first thing you will notice. The bottom end TQ really comes out.

That might be why I feel I don't need the trans tune now that I have the ECU tuned. Those things get removed.

I still might tune the trans. I am noticing sometimes in certain corners/power application that the car doesn't shift fart or shift as aggressive. I am thinking it might be traction strategy to not disrupt the car. However, sometimes it happens where I don't think it would disrupt the car.

I'm already modulating throttle out of turns. I guess I could use more when the wheel is straight, though.
I don't think my class mentions transmission tuning, so I may be able to get away with it. I'll have to check.

No, just make sure your heights are equal side to side. Corner balancing, IMHO, is a waste of time and money unless you are competing for every fraction of a second.

Ending up going with the DTC60/30 combo. Holy hell are the 30's noisy. I've never had this problem with any of my previous 60's or Black's.
Thats interesting. I have the same combo and yes the DTC60s are noisy but its not unbearable. the DTC30s I haven't heard a peep from.

What sort of oil temps is everyone seeing on average while on track? I was at Pitt race south course the other day and noticed my temps creep up into 250-260 after a couple consecutive hotlaps according to Bimmerlink. It was high 70s to mid 80°F out. I typically see 220s in normal driving sometimes it dips into 230 and I've touched 250 a couple times on track but this was rhe first time I've seen it get much higher.

Also I'm running liquimoly 6600 0w-20 with ceratec if that counts for anything.

Ahh thanks for that data! Ok seems about right then I guess. South Course is fairly technical and doesn't have the 2 long straights that the full course has, so I assume that doesn't help.

Thanks!

A shop that's local to me as everyone in our area thinking that corner weighting is the end-all of automotive tuning. Any time someone asks if my cars are done, I say "it's not worth it for me", I'm instantly ostracized because "I have no idea what I'm talking about". So, now I'm like fuck it. Let them all waste their money and I'll still go faster than most of them ?

I've never run the 30s, but my 60s have always made noise. Not *too* bad, though. Now... when Raybestos starts making pads for our cars... THOSE suckers are noisy. Worth it, of course.

I'd have to go back to check my recent post, but these cars run hot. @razorlab posted the above info in that thread, putting my mind at ease. My old race car ran up to 280 before I built an oil pan for it and upgraded the oil cooler. It did fine. I'd imagine these engines will do plenty well at the higher temps, too. So far so good. That was all with OEM 20w oil. I've swapped to a heavier weight, so we'll see if it runs warmer. Fingers crossed.

After a good bed in and track day, they should quiet down. At least mine do down here in hot & muggy SWFL. Perhaps they’re noisier in cooler weather?

Let us know when they do! As you know I’m really happy with the DTC 60/30 combo. But would be fun to try other compounds, if priced competitively.

Yeah I've heard multiple times that our cars run hot. I figured I'd see some sort of limp mode before it gets bad but still worrying when I see it creep up haha. I'm on 0w-20 as well, thought about going to Liqui-Moly's 5w-30 but I'm still on rhe fence. I know many people do just fine but idk. I'm curious if/when some sort of aftermarket oil cooler will be released in the market. I know we have one already but I'd imagine there would be a market for one with more capacity.
