Also considering Verus camber plates as I'm not quite ready to lose the "GT" feeling of stock suspension on longer road trips.

I like the Hawk DTCs for performance/price/rotor wear. Keep them on all year.

I put those on with my seat back and slide the seat up. It’s tight! (don‘t forget the knee pad, lol)

Adjustable lower control arms are nice to be able to get that negative camber from the bottom of the tire outward (as opposed to doing it from the top with plates), if you have an installer or can do it yourself.

I put them on the passenger seat in the car so I don’t forget them. Damn it hurts without them! My buddy walks around with it down around his ankle and then slides it up drive time. It’s funny but he doesn’t give a ? and he’s fast as hell around the track. I’m sure everyone think he has a bum knee. At lease I did. I asked him what happened to his knee, is how I found out about them ?

I was told they can help get you a little more camber out of the front in combination with the front LCA’s on an otherwise stock suspension setup. I’m not 100% we needed them. You could probably start with the LCAs and see if you can get enough and add the caster bushings later.
The bushings kind of suck to install. The caster arms are super easy to get off if the bumper is off, which I had mine off already when I was doing all of it. Not sure how you get to them with bumper on, but there must be a way. I took the arms to my shop and had them press the SPL bushings in for me after keeping them in a freezer overnight to help shrink them just a bit.

SPL FLCAs ordered. So I should be okay for now. Almost did the Verus plates (as they're one of my partners) but after the whole Ohlins debacle, I'm just going to settle for the safe, but a tad more expensive, route. I'm sure my Nankangs will be happy either way.

If you have any questions about them, including install, just call them. They're very responsive. A guy named Turner works there and now tracks an A90 Supra. He is a very good resource and goes out of his way to help.

Ja Verkline appear to offer all the same bits, though some currently say “out of stock”.

I’m not in too much of a rush, but may do it towards the end of winter for next year’s HPDE/autox season.

I suspect it’ll be the last suspension mod I do. Too me the car already feels like it needs buckets, and I’m not ready to a) spend all that $ and b) still want to be able to take an occasional overnight road trip in it with my partner.

I installed a Recaro Pole Position with a $10 Amazon inflatable lumbar pillow and its fantastic. I was constantly fighting with throttle commitment going through the S's at Pitt race cause I had to brace myself. With the seat it totally changed my world. I could suddenly feel movement in the rear and was able to correct much faster and predict it. Also not to mention I installed the seat and immediately went on an 8hr road trip lol.

I would highly recommend a Pole Position FIA, or if you want something just a tad more forgiving, get the ABE version. The ABE gets an extra 2" of hip room (iirc) and there's a bit more lumbar support.

For those running harnesses, what are you actually mounting them to? I've started considering a rollcage but haven't done a ton of research other than knowing that studio RSR's cage is ? and the cusco harness bar might as well be bolted to tissue paper.

Seems like WalkerPro, Dashbuilt, and Doteki have the best options. Although again I haven't done a ton of research.

Roll bar shoulder straps and then the race seat base for the other connections. Pretty 101 stuff

I don't agree that the cusco harness bar is tissue paper. I have stress tested mine. If the car ever goes wheel to wheel I would have a custom roll bar installed. Most of the bolt in one's weak link are the zip bolt fasteners which would mean you have a loose roll cage bouncing around inside in a wreck.

I will just add that I have a studio rsr role bar exactly for this purpose. I would not classify it as bad. They all are bolt in role bars. Bends and stubs are all acceptable for NASA etc and floor mounts are solid. I have 6 point sparco harness and seat. 4 eye bolts with proper backing plate on each eye bolt through floor board for the side belts and front center belts. Shoulder go to roll bar with collars so they will not slide. Then of course you need a HANS device on your Helmet. I use necksgen. I Bolted another seat belt socket to the seat bracket so the 3 point stock belt can still be use for the street. Here is a pic

Lots of options. I’d do the tissue paper Cusco this time. But if I was going wheel to wheel, I’d get one custom made for the same price. We had a local shop near Sebring make mine to spec in my S2K. It was cheaper than I thought. Get local race shops opinions for sure.

I had camber Verus plates and they were just fine. Unfortunately I bought springs that were too low & needed to make a change anyways. Coulda shoulda…. stock suspension woulda been just fine. Go for as much negative camber as you can up front (up to -3.2) and your tires will thank you.


Dang mothafocka! That is hauling ass w/out coilovers. I’d like to think most of you guys also have sway bars as well. Regardless, proof it don’t take much ?


I know seats would normally be the 1st upgrade to do but I‘m really trying to keep her as close to stock (looking) - very odd for a track car indeed. Anyway, a Supra buddy uses knee pads at the track - so I bought some too, world of difference, lol. I also got seat belt locks. It really helps! But I know real seats with a harness would be way better and cut my lap times down - more connected, increasing confidence.



Love it! Your car being the exception on how to optimize this Supra for track. How does your buddy with the red Supra do on that same track? You two seem to be pretty evenly matched. Assuming he doesn’t have the Catalyst.

Contemplating wheel spacers too. I’ve seen a lot of comments it’s okay to add spacers while tracking but do spacers cause any issues with the camber plates?
