Recommendations?
I went on a big lug nut journey because of the rust that happened. Project Kics seemed to be the best option for OEM thread pitch but they were expensive. I ended up going with the M14x1.25 to M14x1.5 conversion studs and got some Titanium lug nuts instead from Rison Titanium.

I'm interested in hitting up Road Atlanta this year, would be first time, and was deciding between HoD and Chin, thoughts?
Come to Dominion near Fredericksburg. We have great instructors and our members days are only $275 for guests. Run groups are 3-9 people. You will get physically tired before you run out of track time.

I go to Chin events. $$ but very well run. They have good instructors and some really fst cars in the upper groups.

Friend is promoting a new group at Summit point in WVA in Aug. Going to be an intimate group and a lot of fun. We have 9 Supras signed up so far. :)

Unless your car isn’t street legal, you can always drive there. Tom just did a whole Brock Yates Trip across America in his ?

They sell those lug nuts on amazon now I found out the other week as well. After the process I went through and basically every single one of the lug nuts I got from the manufacturer site I'd probably recommend going through amazon to get them. I think the prices were the same but I also remember getting a 15-20% off code for your first purchase from manufacturer site

Thanks, was leaning towards titanium as well. I should have mentioned that I need 14x1.5 threaded lug nuts as well.

in the NE, BMW/Audi NEQ offers the best bang for buck for novices. once you move up in track awareness/fundamentals, moving to masstuning/scda can be better if more track to yourself becomes your priority. instructor qualities are not even between groups either.
I wonder if they have events in SE, specifically S. FL.

I’ve heard the BMW people are great.

My closest track (homestead) is just 25 min away. And I LOVED Sebring but
driving from Miami to Sebring (3hrs) seemed a lot to me (I have this car exclusively for HPDE) so adding 500 non track miles was painful ?

but here I’ve seen people driving 3-4 hours to their tracks routinely - I know, I’m spoiled.

Oh come on man! You're missing out on so many great Southeast tracks. Road Atlanta, Roebling, VIR, Barber, Sebring (yes you've been but it seems like once or only a handful of times) or even CMP. All of those tracks are head and shoulders better than HMS. I can promise that!

Yeah that would be the best place to get your most “laps” in. So close you gotta do it. But after it becomes 2nd nature, you gotta put that baby on a trailer. It’ll make traveling with her much easier to Sebring, carry tools etc. Then put her on the train ? to Virginia. Then you can hit RA & VIR and drive on them NC & TN smoky mountain roads ?

Yeah, he’s spoiled having FARA hit most of those Homestead events. Chin is good too but expensive $$$. FARA is mega affordable, lots of BMW peeps and great coaching, while working his way up the experience ladder.

Does running a larger cat like AMS or AA Gesi downpipe help with under hood and/ or intake temps? I'm not tuned but it's hot here in Vegas and looking at an aftermarket manifold and aftermarket catted downpipe to help with temps. Is it worth it on stock tune with a 6 port?

Shielding would work better.

Ha...no sympathy here. :-D This was a light year for mileage, as I towed from MD to IN and back, but I still put 3K miles on the car in a week.

How many track days did you do before that?
Track Days...140+ before I did my first One Lap in '22, but their requirement is 2 track days.

I'd certainly recommend a lot more than that, as you're driving brand new tracks just about every day. It's tough to read a brand new track and drive it in anger. Clearly, by my midpack finish, I'm not all that great at it either.

That sounds like a dream season!

Question for those that visit several tracks during the season: Does the skill transfer from track to track seamlessly or do you ride with someone, have a coach on board for a new track?

I am still very green, but noticed I was just a tiny bit more comfortable in Sebring on my first laps than what I felt at Homestead on my first 2 or 3 weekends.
