That’s the key ?. I’d want the size that has the most available parts. If I had found a base 3.0 instead of my premium, I would have swapped out the calipers to save money in the long run on pads. And just to be a picky little biAach trying out different pads.

With ya @kaj on the Hawks. I think you said you liked them before on other cars. I really like them on this Supra! Track only = dust, noise = crazy repeated stopping power
The problem is that Toyota doesn't really state that the rears are a different size in their promotional documentation, so it's something us owners only discovered when swapping pads. I only found the difference 20 pages into a full spec sheet comparing the models after I had discovered the rear pads from the premium wouldn't fit.

Any way to measure without taking stuff off? Condo rules, lack of real tools, brand new car, etc reasons. I can ask the dealer when i pick up my plates.
I think rear rotors are something like 10-20 mm smaller than the premium (I'd have to google search to find that spec sheet again). Fronts are identical, iirc.

Front calipers and rotors (348mm) are exactly the same other than the calipers not being painted red on the base model.

Rear both the calipers and rotors are different. Base rotors are (330mm) compared to premium (345mm).

Hi, I have a 23 base but my brakes are painted red. Is there another way to determine besides taking out the pads to inspect - base or premium? Maybe, they're the same now 23 forward?
If they are red, they are not the base brakes. 2023 still has the silver brakes on base.

Another issue with confusion here is that even Toyotas website is wrong on the specs. Currently states all models have the smaller rear rotors, which we all know is incorrect.

I didn't mind them at all on the Evo. I have no complaints about them. I do feel the Raybestos ST43 pad was better, though. I am 100% certain they will eventually make a pad for our car, can't wait. Other than that I tried CL pads, wasn't really a fan. The ST43s were the most boat anchor pad I could find. The Hawks were close.

Not that I know of. You kind of need to physically measure them. As mentioned above, red painted calipers would indicate premium brakes. If all four calipers are red and it doesn't look like somebody did the paint them themselves, then those would be premium brakes.

I have a set of premium rear calipers here that I'm going to order rotors for. I just found it's easier to run the common pad size. As soon as I wear down my current pads, I'll swap everything out.

Update: I was able to score a set of rear Premium calipers from a member here and a set of OEM rear Premium rotors from a wrecking yard for $150.
Premium brakes to be installed as soon as my new rear pads wear down. The rear brakes were the only concern I had about buying a base model.... not any more. :headbang:

Smart! That would have been the 1st thing I would have done too. Again, had no idea the sizes were different ?. So now you’ll run the same size rotors as the premium as well?

Man I’m also hoping you try the Hawk DTC 60/30s as I have. Initially I thought they weren’t enough. Only to find out it wasn’t the pads. Anyways, I’d buy the Hawks again for sure! And another buddy uses Paragon. I’m on those now and hot damnnnnnn…. Incredible feel so far. Will track on em next weekend. Can’t wait!

Yes, I will be running the premium rears. I used DTC60s on my Evo. They worked great. Not my favorite, but that could be a preference thing. I'm waiting for Raybestos to make pads for our cars. I'll then be sticking with those.
Other than that, I really like Carbotech, just not the price. If their break off company, G-Lock, starts making pads, I will try those too. I'm told they are just as good as carbo tech.
I've never heard of Paragon, but will look into them. I'm always down for more options.

G-Lock is a sponsor of Chin Track Days. I was told they will make any pad if you call them… and get a discount ? I looked into it but can’t remember what the issue was honestly. Everyone seems to love their products! Lemme know what you find out ?

I’m pretty much a broken record at this point but if you liked ST43’s, you should try the Project Mu Club Racers. Pretty much the same performance and way less noise.

They are a GREAT pad. I wasn't aware they could make stuff for us, though. I'll shoot them an email. Since I have to burn through these current pads first, that gives them plenty of time to figure out something for me.

I’ll definitely buy a set if you need to buy more than one. The Porsche kids in my neck of the woods swear by em.

Brian at Goodwin-racing turned me on to a company that made my MX5 pads every single time. It was worth the 4-6 week wait. Crazy heat tolerance, great bite, consistent as hell and cheaper than the big names.…
