Managed to find my dme software version.

48dc-001.009.003
060.100.005
060.100.006
000.171.006

I believe this is unlocked?
I've just gotten word that MGFlasher can tell you if you're ready to go or not. Even the unlicensed version. Maybe try that?

Managed to find this:

So looks like my dme does not require bench unlock ?

Yeah you appear to be good to go but again I’m not a tuner and it would be best to contact one to double check. Better safe af than sorry

UPDATE:

Managed to tune my Supra. No bench unlock needed. Also opted for Stage 1 instead as I have a stock downpipe. Had excellent support from Bm3 who gave me a few steps to follow when flashing my car.

Ordered myself an eNet cable so i can play around with my flash tune. Already bought a trickle charger.

Really happy with the service Bm3 has provided so far.

FYI, you won't be able to tweak any of the OTS tunes BM offer. They are locked down. You can only tweak/self-tune starting from a stock tune. It's a bit of a bummer but is what it is currently.

Apologies for the confusion. I meant configuring the OTS tune especially the burbles.

I found that the custom burbles even on the highest setting are way less frequent than the OEM. So that's the first thing I will change.

What were the steps you followed? Same situation here — flashed the car back in 2020 and went back to update to the multi map today and got bench unlock required. Seems like software versions should be flashable. I have a ticket open with BM3 as I hear they have fantastic support but it’s the weekend and so I’m taking a shot here to see if anyone knows anything before BM3 can respond on Monday :)

Hi. Could you tell me the exact error Bootmod3 throws when you try to update? Maybe I can give you some better insight.

yep! I tried a few weeks back and it gave me “this software version is different from the one on the DME currently, you can try to force the flash…” ran out of time to keep troubleshooting so decided to try again later — however when I just tried it today it gave me “Bench Unlock Required, you can try to force the flash…”

the only thing different between the two attempts was that the OBD Agent software updated today. Hasn’t been to a dealer or anything.

I should probably add that it did see the dealer in Jan 2021 a year ago, but only for an oil change (which I was adamant it never be plugged in to anything) and I think the software versions confirm that nothing funny went on unless I’m misunderstanding.

my first thought is that bm3 wants it set back to stock before a new flash because the tune file formats are different or something. Or I’m in denial and I am actually relocked even though the BTLD version looks ideal.

Cool! I think I have more perspective now. I had the exact same issue. Basically what Bm3 support told me to do was ignore the bench unlock warning, as my DME was unlocked. And told me to flash to stock and lock, flash to stock unlock, and then flash with the OTS map.

Did the app give you the option to force flash after it suggested it? (should be a red button), because Bm3 support told me to go ahead with it once the option was given. As far as I know this is a Bm3 diagnostic.

What I'm a little perplexed about is that I had this issue on my first flash on a totally stock car. I've never had this issue after my first flash. You mentioned that you had previously flashed the car. I don"t understand why you are then having the same issue that I did.

My best recommendation is to just wait for Bm3 support to check back with you. Mainly because of the issue I highlighted above. I do not believe you should be having this issue so it could be a bug on your map. And maybe Bm3 can have a look to confirm and if indeed it is a bug, they can clear it up instead of potentially flashing the car with a buggy map.

Im not a tuner, and this is my own insight from personal experience. I always suggest talking to your tuner to clarify. Keep us updated on your tune. Would love for your issue to be resolved.

Thanks friend! I think you’re probably right, I’ll hold for bm3 advice. But you’ve basically confirmed what I suspect — it is probably something that will be solved by a reflash back to stock. And I’m guessing I’m getting it because my tune is so old and haven’t really touched it in almost two years.

No problem! ? I do tend to agree with you. It seems we have basically the same conclusion.

Your observation with the software version being 2 years out of date for the map actually makes sense then as to why you are getting the same error I did on a stock standard car as my dme is from 2019 and never updated.

Keep us update mate, best of luck for your Supra! Let me know how well the multimap works once you get it.
