im curious to see how it goes. If it can make 600-700 whp with just the HPFP and turbo, seems like a reasonable alternative. Looks like there's some dyno tesing coming out... Time will tell I guess.

Shoup tuned this HPFP only car to 650 whp

But on Shoupā€™s live stream he said multiple times that the absolute limit of the stock injectors is 600 whp alone and you wonā€™t cross that line with just an HPFP and a turbo upgrade on E30/50 etc..

The way I see it, if you're looking to stay stock trans or just in general around 600-650whp, DI will be king. It's the reason the Gen 1 is so fast so easily. Downpipe, HPFP, and turbo gets you very far.

The most unfortunate thing about gen 2 is the injector limit is so low. So you need to upgrade it for 700-750, but by then the cost of supporting mods can increase the price exponentially.
So as I understand it, Gen 1 B58 injectors > Gen 2 B58 injectors

According to spools website:

Gen 2 B58 IFX350 Injectors = 390 Bar (5500PSI) or 60% over stock

~ Stock injectors = 244 Bar or 3535PSI

Gen 1 B58 IFX150 injectors = 290 Bar or 150% over stock

~ Stock injectors = 116 bar or 1682 PSI - which seems impossibly low

What am I missing?

I'm not sure what you're asking, but yes stock Gen 1 injectors at 200bar flow more than stock Gen 2 injectors at 350bar. Spool injectors are rated to run at higher pressures so that's what they rate it at, to show the peak flow. Gen 1 runs around 100 bar at idle and low load, so yes it's relatively low but not representative of high load scenarios. Maybe they're trying to highlight that it can support OEM-Like driveability when cruising?
