Mine ran better at 5.5k+. You can see that theres throttle closure with Terry's and not the duty bias i provided. His are causing a little overboosting. causes 2 degree timing correction

Normal and this log looks great. keep those settings and hit the dyno after adding another gal of E.
Yea it felt great too I just saw some 14’s/15’s AFR with high Trims and got a little concerned.

the last map has the reset duty bias but you think I should drop it back down to what you recommended but leave the boost settings?

If you don’t mind the Duty Bias is wastegate sensitivity is that a good way to think of it? By lowering it are we making more sensitive or less? Or am I off on that?

Really trying to understand what all this does with NA cars and even SC’d ones there isn’t quite this level of complexity so just researching trying to understand each parameter, what it is, what it should be to be safe and if I make a tweak what does it actually do. So thank you for all your help it’s is very much appreciated

Duty bias is just an offset to wastegate position. As your raise that value, the JB4 will close the wastegate more than the DME is requesting. Lower, the opposite.

Too low and you won't boost near your targets. Too high and you overboost and get throttle closure or timing corrections

For some having 2 parts to the tune they just don’t want to deal with it but what i’m finding is the backend flash has all the fueling, timing and other parameters kinda ironed out already and you can easily make fine tune adjustments to the tune in just a few seconds without having to wait for a tuner to update those parameters, send you the file, save It, upload it to the car, rinse, repeat I can tweak it myself in a few seconds, run a log and go ”nope don’t like that” and fix then do it again “yup I like that” and it makes stupid power with just a few mods.

Plus the JB4 monitoring is awesome! MHD and I think BM3 both use wifi to connect to the adapter and they want your phone in airplane mode and bluetooth off blah blah so you can’t use your phone easily and monitor at the same time since wireless apple car play also uses wifi and bluetooth.

Agreed, I hope the BEF works on MT cars because I love to tinker with it. I feel like having to wait on a tuner would drive me crazy.

Not a Corvette.

If you download TunerPro, you can also tweak things in the BEF rom files you have. You can open it up and modify tables. A lot of "tuners" don't want anyone to know that.

Awesome thread, thks ColonelAdarma for starting it ?

A noob question as I never have experience with JB4. Is it fair to say that Map 1 works well on a stock MT Supra running 91 and there isn’t much point to custom tune it for performance or drivability reasons?

Eh it depends. MTs are very finicky with JB4, though some get it working easily and quickly.

I used JB+ while I still had OEM downpipe and it worked fine! I'd just recommend that on default setting and a couple gal of ethanol, rather than mess with the JB4.

Do you see any driverbility or safety benefits over a jb+ in running a Jb4 on map 6 with an absolutely boost target of say 22psi?

Yeah not sure that it'd be easy at all to get 22 psi on an MT, especially on 91.

My car has taken a good bit of work to push 19-20 on 93/E20

JB4 is definitely safer than JB+ since it has built in safeties
