My only gripe (which is the premise of the thread right), is the nonfunctional oem vents…. And it’s not really a gripe, just an unfortunate decision by Toyota. It didn’t really both me until I saw folks on this forum spending money on equally non functional aftermarket vents LOL. No worries though, I’m joining the club with a CF lip spoiler and 13mm wheel spacers (CF mirror caps already on).

Maybe this is in a thread on the forum somewhere but I don’t understand where the power bump from 2020 to 2021 came from. If it’s a ECU/software thing, Toyota should’ve provided the update to all existing 2020s or make it available for purchase (aim at folks who don’t want to aftermarket tune/JB4 their shit) That is just money for TRD waiting to be made. If it’s not a ECU thing then what did they do to add 50HP?
Power bump from different compression ratio, exhaust setup and tune. Could be more but I can't recall it all at the moment.

6 port head compared to the 2 port head of the 2020's. Im sure tuning was involved too. But the compression was dropped, and why a fully tuned e50 2020 makes more power then a fully tuned 21+, the extra compression.

6 port though is needed on big HP cars.

5. GRMN. Not happening for regular folk. I mean it will happen, but it will be Japan only like the Yaris and very limited. Not an S58 but a tuned B58. I think this is obvious if we look at the Toyota playbook and stop dreaming. Targa is at 50% chance - Actually, it's probably a certainty since I've ordered a MY23. In fact, I predict it'll be announced as I take fucking delivery.
A builder at LA Auto Convention this year told me he has an order on a Targa Supra MY2025. Out of respect for the guy I won't say his name, but he had a massive car collection that he built and owned, and he confirmed it for me 4 times in our conversation.

I don't see why he would just lie about it especially when I didn't specifically ask about it, but yeah, take it for what it is haha. A random stranger's "confirmation".

In my opinion a Toyota built by Toyota supra would have been a worse car overall. The B58 is the best mass produced 6 cylinder on the market in my opinion. Of course putting aside exotic or really high priced cars like the Ford GT or Porsche GT3.

But I think Toyota could have built a decent sports car and people would have bought it. It would probably have a terrible automatic and a decent manual.

I am fine with my 2 port head. Doesn’t really matter if your flashing it. Only matters if you plan on staying stock.

Just make sure you eventually go port injection on the 2 port head or carbon buildup and a need for a head-off job will be required down the line on the exhaust side.

You want toyota to provide different pistons and a different head?

Not a Corvette.

Why is that exclusive to the 2 port vs the 6 port?

Carbon build up from DI is on the intake side, not exhaust side.

I said it before, and I'll say it again -- As soon as my Yellow MT is confirmed to deliver, the Targa will be announced.

Carbon build up from DI is on the intake side, not exhaust side.
DI creates carbon throughout the top-end of a motor, both intake and exhaust…all the way to the pipe tips. Turbo DI cars accelerate that process. There are numerous examples from different vehicles. Toyota had this problem with the introduction of the IS350 back in the mid 2000’s. It’s one of the benefits of D4-S, and yet it still caused some carbon build up…so consider the case without D4-S, and more places for carbon to cling on to (2 port cast collector). With the addition of port injection, you still won’t get it spotless….but at least it won’t need a future top-end removal.
